Finally got in the first ride of the season.:00hour :00hour

Been sick all weekend but couldnt resist the 50 degree temp with sunshine. So we put the batterys in the bikes and wiped them down. Then it was just a matter of getting them across the ice in front of the garage without dumping them. Take off down the road and I notice the wife is way to far behind me. Seems someone forgot to turn on the gas to their bike. She figured it out and fixed it while still rolling so that was good. 4 hours later it was back across the ice and into the garage. I know I am going to pay dearly for it tommorow but it was well worth it.

Put on 250 miles so far. The wife has 120 on hers. Only 380 left to go before the break in is done. If the weather holds out she will have it in a little over a week. It will be interesting to see what her bike will actually do.

Mid 50s today so its off to the HD store to look at what I dont want to buy. Actually the wife wants a different helmet. She has a 3/4 one now and cant get used to it. Will probably go with a half helmet.

Glad to see it is warming up so you all can get out. Went for a 50 mile ride today. Perfect weather. Bought a warm weather jacket a power trip voodoo and really like it. Wanted some protection and will wear it even when it is really hot. I wear a half helmet as does my wife. We like them. Love my HOG!

I believe she will end up with the half helmet. I think she got used to going without one last year so that is why it may take time for her to adjust to wearing one. We took a trip to Michigan last year (mandatory helmet state) and borrowed a couple of half helmets. She didnt have any complaints about it. So why did she get the 3/4 one instead????? I have no idea..Must be a woman thing.
Right now with the 3/4 one she is way to timid on the bike and its causing me to spend to much time checking on her in my mirrors. I believe she is timid because she just isnt comfortable.

RICKNJAC SAYS AND I QUOTE (LOVE MY HOG)

I'LL BET YOU DO:jerkit: FAG

You are starting to get on my nerves old man. I can put up with alot of bs but you are pushing the envelope. Why you feel a need to call me anything is beyond me. But If I lived closer I would be paying you a visit and we would see if you are as tough as you are behind your keyboard. Where I come from those words to another do not go with out ramifications whether you are a worthless old man or not. Go play in someone elses thread.

Dont give BTJ what he wants...you replying to his posts. It seems that is what gets him off. He looks for buttons to push and then waits for that person to reply so he can get his jollys. As you can see.Jack is a straight up guy and he took care of the BTJ post.

Put on 150 miles today. Mid 70s for temp. The bottom is going to drop out of the temps after tommorow. Tommorow its going to be mid to uppper 70s. Glad its a short day for me at work.

You are right Bubbas1. Jim just struck a nerve today.Last time I checked this was the general forum where you can talk about well beauty queens, movies, hotgirls, douche, dating, smoking, pictures, vacations and yea HOGS. Saw a guy lay down his rice rocket today. He was going around a corner where there is road contruction in a major intersection and gassed it not realizing there was sand on the road from the construction. The bike shot out from under him and slid across the intersection into some dirt. Lucky for him the cars behind him avoided running him over. It appeared he hurt his leg somewhat and I am sure the bike had some major scrapes at the least. I would have stopped and helped him but a car load off guys had already done so by the time I got up there. Can not be to careful. Do you have routes you ride. Have not been on a long ride as of yet. 50 miles has been the max. I am sure the 70's felt ureal after the winter you go through. Yea and I love my HOG!

We dont have a route we go on. We usually just pick a direction..point the bikes..and go. Or I look up rustic roads and we ride them. Its very rare when we have a destination in mind. We mostly take back roads when we go. I always pull off when I see the historical markers along side the road. Its interesting to read some of that stuff.

That sand sure can come up and bite you if you dont pay attention. At least it dosent sound like the rider was hurt to bad. The other thing to look out for is snakes in the road. Thats where road crews fill in the cracks in the road with tar. On hot days they actually get slippery when you ride over them.

Finally had a perfect weekend for riding. Rode around Sat and got stamps for our poker run book.
Sunday we headed off to the Wis Dells area. Took all backroads there. Made a donation at the casino and then took the expressway home. Ended up with 300 miles for the day. The wind was really strong so it knocked the hell out of us. Still a great ride though. Took all of about 2 second to fall asleep that night.

This weekend...a trip across the state to Dubuque Ia because I hear the casino there isnt making enough money so we will try to help them out.

Found out I have a comedian for a neighbor. The wife and I stopped in town for breakfast before we took off Sunday. We saw our neighbors getting ready to leave the resteraunt as we sat down. Get back out to the bikes after we eat and there is a huge oil puddle under my bike. Took a little bit to figure the neighbor had dumped some oil under it as a joke. He will definatly get paid back for that one.

Glad you are getting out Bubbas1. Great time of the year. Been a crazy spring weather wise. Got my 1000 mile service last weekend. Put mobil 1 twin v 20w50 in the motor, mobil75w90 in the tranny and harley grade in the primary. The bike runs somewhat cooler with the sythetic but could not really tell any difference in the shifting. When I was at the dealer the wife saw a black 1200low she really liked. Really nice looking bike. Lots of chrome blacked out motor like mine.I am leary off getting it for her as if anything ever happened to her on it I do not think I would ever get over it and she has no. experience other than the msf course we took together.
Got some rush slipons on order. Should be hear anyday. Should make the harley bark on command. Can not wait!

Ricknjax...When you get your 10k service done you might want to try redline in the tranny. It looks like peptobismol and it helps out with the harley "clunk" when you shift.

I think if we had to do it over again we would have went with the 1200 for the wife as a first bike. The 883 just didnt have enough power after she got comfortable on it (which didnt take long at all). She is already talking about wanting to move up to a softail.

As far as worrying about her riding on her own bike..the fears calm down for you as she gets more experience. I think I would feel worse if I wrecked with the wife on the back of my bike than her being on her own bike. Women are alot more cautious on bikes than guys are.

Was driving to work on my bike this morning minding my own business and listening to some tunes. I had just went thru a light that was turning yellow as I was going thru. Checked behind me and there were no vehicles. I was coming up to the next light that was red and was slowing down (doing about 10mph). Next thing I know I felt something hit my right side saddle bag and then hit my ankle. It was a dumbass cage. Knocked me off my bike and then the idiot smashed into the 2 cars at the stop light. As soon as I hit the ground I crawled to the front of my bike so I wouldnt get run over by anyone else. Long story short....broke the small bone by my shin, cracked the big one next to it and broke my ankle.

Talked to the cop at the emergency room and he told me that the cage got tickets for the accident. Then he tells me that my bike is located at the cop shop in thier garage. Another officer rode it there (a few blocks from the accident scene) He said they didnt want it towed because they knew that more damage would be done to the bike if they called in a tow truck. That completely blew me away. Hell of a nice thing they did for me. My boss went up there and picked it up and took it to my work. He told me that it can sit there until the insurance company decides what to do.

So now I go to see the orthopodic surgeon on tuesday. They told me I will need surgery. They have to put in some screws and plates. Went to look at the bike after getting out of the hospital. Right saddle bag is completely ripped off, scrapped /bent pipe on that side, crash bar and footpeg scrapped. Not to much more damage that I could see at the time.

So that ends my riding season for the year. Will be out of work for about a month. The only bright spot is that the driver had insurance ( same company as mine)and I had under/uninsured on my policy so it should cover the medical bills even if they had the minimum coverage.

Ive replayed the situation over in my head and I still dont know where the vehicle came from.

Stay safe out there people.

bubbas1, get well soon. I helped my uncle recover from a similar accident several years ago. Glad u didn't have more severe injuries although those are quite bad enough!!

What are you referring to where you wrote cage and the cage got tickets for the accident? I've read that 10 times, and I can't figure it out.

edit, I looked up cage on urbandictionary, and it's motorcycle slang for a car, so he got a ticket for his violations/bad driving. Hope you aren't in too much pain.
