Is there a way to actually make money on gambling? Or is it just entertainment to give some zest to an otherwise uninteresting game?

Is it better to make one larger wager on the one game you are most confident in? Two smaller wagers? Three team parlays?

I am certainly not a big gambler. I don't bet enough for a win to change my standard of living. Lately it seems that I win just enough to support my gambling habit. I'm not winning much. Maybe I should just be happy that I'm not losing much.

i can only speak for myself....& i have found that i do better when i put the same amount on each game that i play...& i think it's more enjoyable when you approach it as entertainment...

Do it as long as you are interested in it and enjoy it - and as long as it doesn't interfere with family or money you shouldn't afford to lose. I personally lost my way a few years ago and let it take over my life for a while, and I'll never make that mistake again.

In other words, if you are up capping at 6 am on a Saturday morning, and find yourself drunkenly chasing big losses with a huge bet on Hawaii to cover a big spread at home until 3 am Sunday morning, it's time to check your damn self...:D

If you're doing it mainly for fun, then there's no real right way or wrong way to do it - essentially. Although parlays are dumb at face value, they can be fun. I don't see anything wrong with a very small parlay wager to take a shot at a big hit as a small part of your wagering bankroll. I get yelled at for that here, but so be it.

Personally, unless you REALLY put a lot of time in the capping, I see no value in varying the size of your wagers. You can usually always find some good reason to go hard at a game or two on a card, but, but it never really worked out that well for me. I'd say stick to the same value for each.

An interesting way to do it, which some do here, like Thunder (the poster), is to bet a different percentage of your current bankroll on games, with the overall bankroll varying, but not the wager units, per se. I've always thought that to be a nice idea, although I never did it. But you have to be committed to one bankroll for a wagering period, to do that. It takes a steady person and a lot of math to do it...I don't like math that much...ha.

Good luck to you.

Am recreational gambler myself.

A couple things that have let me enjoy it in a stress free wagering environment over the years.

I wager same amount and diviate rarily. Lots of methods out there to "possibly" increase return but only possible way to lose given you pick more winners than loser at 52% clip
--and that is betting different amounts per play

another factor is on amount of wager.
IMO Emotion is one of the biggest risk factors bettors have.

To alleviate it I wager a stress free amount--
--a stress free amount to me is one that permits me to not have urge to check scores other than at routine time-which might be the next morning.

As you can tell by my user name, I usually bet the game I like best. If I do like more than one game, I bet them all for the same amount. Will sometimes go up to 2 units if I really like a game, and 3 units max, but I do this as a hobby and don't bet big. I start out at the beginning of the season small and increase as I gain more confidence. If I can make some extra money during a season, I'm happy. Just don't bet more then you can afford to lose. I'm sure there are some big bettors here and many different strategies by others.
