it should be noted that the opposite was true in the runup to the 2004 election, with Bush supporters having a significant majority in here.

Very true. Clint and Wayne obviously have poor, or selective, memories. Not just in the run-up to the 2004 election, but as far back as 10/01 this forum was teeming with Bush sychophants.

Understandably they mostly have slinked away altogether or severely reduced their posting. I don't think it's even debatable.

How can anybody even attempt to defend this admins performance? Wayne and Weasel still feebly try to, but that's about it these days.

I give you props for being one of only two people still left attempting the impossible feat of defending this administration and *this* is the thanks I get? Sheesh.

BJ:

When you and I joined this forum in early 2001, there were about 3 or 4 centrists posting here. The vast majority were Waynelike. My first posts concerned my questioning the rationale of the death penaltys application to the insane (Andrea Yates). The opposition to my position was about 20-1.

Recently, last several years, this board has changed so that the majority are clear thinking. I wish us centrists could take credit for that. Unfortuneately, Bush and Cheney have made it quite easy for the right wingnuts to scatter like the wind with their tales between their legs.

Most of them were getting their rocks off watching the Shock and Awe on TV. They believed Cheney that our boots would be met with flowers and kisses. This thing was supposed to be over in a matter of weeks. It wasn't so long ago.

Sifting through some of the posts from 2002-2004 while watching some basketball, this is a list of at least somewhat regular right-wing posters that have either disappeared, or no longer post in here from that time period:

Snake Plissken
Pro 190
Ferdville
Dr. Freeze
Gibber1
Raymond
Ctownguy

I don't see any diff than its ever been--

You were all out in full force prior to 04 election- thinking you had lock per your CNN (Clinton News network polls) and GW's supposed favorbility ratings---

---then find out for 2nd time you find you were once again sucked in by liberal opinion--

I have little doubt if GW could run this election he'd win again by larger margin--not because he's that good but because of Dem choice of candidates once again.

I told you many times you'll have your chance in the sun in short order--when your voting block becomes the majority.

I'm getting a little bored anyway--I miss the days scandals on front page everyday--Think about it--when is last time we've had a personal malfeasa "gate" in the headlines--

Don't know about you all but I miss all the Clinton corruption--to name a few--

And he was convicted of what? Oh, thats right, BlowJobGate. What a joke. You are so obsessed with Clinton it is absurd. And the fact that you, Wayne, refer to a Rhodes Scholar educated at Yale and Oxford as Billy Bob, is laughable to be kind.

Are you just sorry it was Monica and not you?

Personally, I don't think there's any way in the world Bush would win the Presidency again, against either Obama or Hillary. I'm not sure he would win his own party nomination again, to be honest, although I realize the power behind this group, and the power of incumbency.

I submit there would be 1/3 of the people who voted for Bush in the last election that would no longer support him. Of course, I think he's a sad joke to represent the country, and have an overly negative opinion of him, but when I read posts in this forum alone about people who voted for him and have various problems with his performance, that tells a tale.

And when you stop to consider the past two elections, and the vote counts, and the fact that there are more people motivated to vote liberal (and against Bush) this time...I don't think he'd win by any stretch of the imagination.

Pardner, I think I buy into your independent label more these days. You have to excuse myself and others for our labeling. It happens against me as well. I don't even bother arguing when I am labeled a "lib" anymore. This extrem right/left thing has been a product of the Bush years. Those days are running out and people will be allowed to be moderate again.
