so, what's the plan? Are we betting on the teams or not? I don't know anything about Calcuttas, and with so many unknowns, I'm not sure how you would do it? Was it ppabart that mentioned a sheet?

The only thing we ever do is play skins/greenies/ etc. other easy stuff.

Pretty lame, really, if we go and play again with no action on it, right, since we're all degenerates?

I just don't see how the later groups get done. Alcohol consumption will be at a premium and, like it or not, it's just going to take too long. I'm glad I'm going off at 340PM I tell ya. It won't be fair to the late teams to hurry their shots just to try and get done by dark. Closest to the pin, long drive, etc...the normal stuff is all I see.

I was saying I would do a board, would be pretty simple, list 8 teams, people bet on the team, and the last person to own (highest bid) the team that wins gets the pot, except that the winning team also has an opportunity to buy half of themselves and split the pot with the winning owner (prior to teeing off). Figure the board would start at 2:00pm and end at 3:00pm, then give a few minutes for teams to buy half of themselves...

Figure $5 increments, from $5 to $100 (top amount)???

You have to bet based on weeding through the BS posted in the golf thread and personal golfing experiences with other madjackers.

I see interest from 3 or 4 people, anyone else want to do this???

I'm in for whatever you guys want. I have not done a Calcutta either, so maybe a set amount per man( 10,20,50?) and winning team takes as well as second place??? I will personally bet 100 that the last team will finish 18 holes in the dark   :mj18: What was the reason they split our times Jack? Never did hear that one. Might need to have the last few teams "On Call" in case of cancellations by other guests...just sayin' Have you called to see if anyone has cancelled and given them your priority at replacing those times?

Here is what it would look like

$5 $10 $15 $20 $25....
Team 1

Team 2

Team 3

Team 4

Team 5

Team 6

Team 7

Team 8

You can be outbid at any point up until it closes before the first tee off. So say you are Team 3 and Kosar has the highest bid of $50 on your team, and your team wins, then Kosar wins the pot, however your team also has the option to buy half of yourself before anyone tees off, and therefore (if you bought half your team) your team would get half the pot and Kosar would get half the pot (which is the total amount of money bet on all the team)...

Only the highest bidder for each team at the close pays though, ex:

High bids;
Team 1 $100
Team 2 $40
Team 3 $75
Team 4 $20
Team 5 $100
Team 6 $55
Team 7 $100
Team 8 $80

Total Pot= $570, Kosar gets $285, Your team gets $285 (if you bought half your team, which costs you half of Kosar's bid paid to him). If Kosar had the winning team outright (option to buy half was declined) he wins the entire $570.

Does this help?

they split the times because she waited too long to schedule us. i gave them, what, 4 months notice?

we are first in line if other groups cancel.

plus, they will get people off faster than 10 minutes per group so they should get ahead.

There is a cap of $100 on each team, and although they may be the favorites, I don't think it is a done deal...We shall see, I will make up a sheet and see how it goes...

As I recall, you didn't so well on your bets last year:mj07:

And somehow you "forgot" to pay off on OUR team bet:shrug:

:00x23

:0corn

Uhhhh, you mis-remember. WE didn't have a bet. Your team was ridiculously stacked. However, MY team did get stiffed by Wineguy and crew.
