Man, I really hate to be typing this but you guys deserve the win and the trip to Tampa.

You dominated the game from beginning to end and on both sides of the ball. I'm surprised the Ravens were able to hang as long as they did.

Big Ben did an outstanding job and Troy and the entire defense of yours is just incredible.

Congrats to a class coach, Tomlin as well. He had the team ready and prepared to take on your biggest rival.

Hopefully Ward will be ready in 2 weeks for the big game.

Congrats to the Steeler backers as well. Nice call. I guess i had my homer glasses on for one week too long.

I'll go eat my crow now and see you in here next year.

You know I honestly think that the Ravens caught a really bad break with Hurricane Ike.

I watched all three games between the Ravens and Steelers and the Ravens just didn't look as physical as usual - dare I say, they were pushed around yesterday, which simply was not the case in the first two meetings.

It was the Ravens 18th straight game because of Hurricane Ike, which moved up their bye week to Week 2 instead of Week 10.

On the flip side, the Steelers had a bye week two weeks ago. You can also factor that the Ravens had a much more physical contest in the previous round against the Titans, whereas the Steelers played the Chargers.

The Steelers were just a step ahead of the Ravens yesterday and to me, the freshness factor was the difference.

The thing that I took the most enjoyment out of yesterday's game (besides Flacco being exposed), was all week the Ravens were saying they wanted the Steelers, they were the ones who were talking trash all week.. (even though they were 0 - 2 in the regular season). The Ravens were gloating and arrogant, and they got crushed, the game wasn't as close as the score indicated. Still a good year for Baltimore considering they had a below average qb, just ran into a better team with a better qb and coach.

Excellent post Jack!! I dont really use these forums to promote my teams, so most might not know about my Steeler allegiance.

I dont think I've ever seen a razor thin margin between two teams as with the Ravens/Steelers....and yet somehow the Steelers won all three games.

Next year will probably be a different story.

I cant shake the comparison of Flacco and Roethlisberger's rookie seasons, both culminating in a title game loss. I see a SB in this kid's future as long as he keeps improving.

You guys had a great season and a great future with this club. :toast:

GREAT YEAR and well deserved. You guys stepped up when you had to and did all the things a champion needs to do even when pinned into the corner. CONGRATS!

Your coach deserves it as well. He's a class act, plain and simple.

He is a blast to watch....went to the Skins/Steelers MNF game in person this year (there were a lot less port-o-potties in DC back then!) and could not take my eyes off of him and the ground he covers. He is an amazing defensive weapon.

Really I love Raven/Steeler games as I am old fashioned, love defense and both squads have guys who are thrilling to watch on the defensive end.

you are a rare bird,toledo.....you have a fine sense of humor and have the rare ability to be able to leave the political fencing in the political forum.....and not hold grudges over much of the silliness and shin-kicking(most done with tongue firmly planted in cheek) that goes on there ...

i know it took a lot for you jack to type what you did, class act as always... the ravens just need a WR and a better RB and watch them do damage next year, plus a more experienced flacco, bal will be dangerous

Jack,
Very classy post and well said. I just got home from the game and man was it incredible. I can say that Balty/Pitt will have some great games the next few years as the Ravens have definately taken the next step with a quality QB and coach.

That being said, I have been to dozens of Steelers games and this was the pinnacle. From pregame to postgame the action was intense. I have watched this Steeler defense all year and they even impressed me yesterday. Biggest difference from last year is that everyone is healthy. Mostly Polomalu and Clark. Their secondary is just playing lights out and to watch the matchup with Fitz and Wisenhunt's Cards will be special.

Congrats to to Ravens on a great year, I backed them thru the 1st 2 rounds of the playoffs and won some heavy coin. No matter how the Super Bowl ends up, next year will be a tight 2 team race for the division. Once again I say to you, very classy and refreshing in this day and age. :toast:

Jack,

Truly a classy post.

Having to contend with consecutive road games coupled to the very physical game at Tennessee, I tip my hat to the Baltimore Ravens.

Reminds me very much of Ronnie Lott in his hay day....can take over an entire game by himself when he wants to. ARI is going to have to come up with some game plan to keep pressure off Warner with this defensive line of PIT. As of now, I just don't see it happening....
