The clunkers get the oil drained, and the engine gets filled with some other shit, and run til she seizes up.
There are no clunker police.

Wonder what % of these clunkers end up back on the road ? :0corn
would u like to buy a bridge
Doesn't this remind anyone of the run on houses a few years ago? A government subsidy combined with a very attractive signing offer and you're good to go. That is, until the monthly payments start to get in the way of that pesky rent payment.
I agree with an earlier post in that, if you were already in the market for a new car and if you fit this criteria, this is a fantastic deal and a chance to get back a little bit of your own money. But if you've been driving an '88 Honda out of necessity, then a new car payment is just going to become another hit on your credit report when you default. Maybe the next President will bail out the auto lenders too.
:toast:
tax dollars used to bailout automakers....
tax dollars used to assure bailed out automakers have a market for their products....
program ends, sales dry up....
automaker is in financial trouble again....
rinse and repeat.:00x24
Good!
What's so bad about this program?
I want you to actually write it in here, instead of just yipping.
yeah, that certainly is a rare circumstance you have yourself in. a family of 4 with with a dog. they don't make ANYTHING that would be suitable for that situation.![]()
i kinda figured ur dad just made poster type money and you have been soaking ur wife's families money under the guise of some billionaire CEO. Usually guys like u who scream foul on post boards To support Rush Limbaugh like views, made nothing on ur own but want to keep every last penny you received not from hard work, but was handed to u thru inheritance from somebody else. It is okay tho. I have seen worst.:toast:
Hopefully not. Maybe so. I am taking the pollitics out if it for now, and giving it a chance. It's a fucking shame some of you can only bitch about something for the sake of just bitching.
If I had a car that qualified as a clunker, I would damned sure look into this idea! I've paid enough taxes over the years, and why the fuck shouldn't I get a small hunk back?
Real shame a person who actually works might catch a fucking break, instead of money going overseas, or to deadbeats who don't contribute to the tax base.
Smoke and mirrors? Could turn out that way, but it's a crying shame that some of you fuckbags hope that's the case.
I don't know what's worse: The country turning into a shithole, or nutjobs who want it to stay that way so they can say, "I told you so", in some way, shape, or form.
Hedge,
Can understand your view on the preference of a large vehicle. But an increase in mpg of anything between 4 and 10 still nets you $3500 with this program.
For me this could not come at a better time since my 93 Ranger I paid cash for back in 01 thru a friend, was starting to go. I paid 5K for it and I got a great 8 years out of it. Now Sam is going to give me $4500 for it. For me it's a no-brainer.
I agree with many that this is something that if you qualify, it's something to seriously look into.
The only thing that I do not agree with is the disposal of the older cars. Some are still in decent shape, and can definitly be used to help some other folks out.
BLAST
You own a vehicle that is worth 500 dollars on the open market, you go to a dealership and they give you 4500 for your ride, you just fleeced the American taxpayer out of 4000 dollars all to save the world from global warming, which is a hoax.
I am happy for you and all that take advantage of the government, I would have done the same if my vehicle was worth less than 4500
I am not a charity![]()
on a serious note, I looked into it, I could use my dad's old truck for trade in if he would let me buy it cheap from him, but I can't find a vehicle that would fit my lifestyle
![]()
also, you have to own title for one year to qualify.
you talk in circles.
