Great job Jack--yep still fine here--oddest thing -I have heard lots of folks say they wanted one as bad year after they quit--but have had no urge whatsoever anymore--don't reach for one --seldom even think about it-
--so you have hardest behind you jack--Glad to see the few beers didn't get to you--but would wait a while until I ventured in casino/poker game or any other venture that gets adrenalin flowing--for a couple more weeks--maybe month. ;)

48 days smoke free :00hour

quit the chantix sunday. don't need it anymore. the plan was to take it for 6 months but i was waking up every morning with severe lower back pain and thought maybe the chantix was messing with my kidneys. i saw that on TV as a possible side effect.

drank beer 2 times in those 48 days and still stayed away. well, i'm testing that tonight too so make that 3 days of beer :mj06:

i think i'll pull it off this time. i sure hope so.

nasty, nasty, fuking habit.

how you doing, wayne?

i have no aches and pain at all like i did the last time. the only side effect i think i was getting was the back pain but that's gone. unfortunately the good dreams are gone too.

i'm gaining weight too because i'm eating like a hog but i'll deal with that later.

10 MONTHS:00hour FOR BLOCKHEAD

CONGRATULATIONS!

CONGRATULATIONS!

Jack, DTB, Ray and all the recent smoke free success stories. Congrats! You can kiss it goodbye permanently now...................you've done it!!!
You'll find yourself drinking fewer 'Teddy Brewskis" as well. Sometimes, I believe, the beers were just a lubricant that went well with my smokes! A word of caution.......DON"T ever think you can have JUST ONE....NEVER.
Did that in my 40s once after quitting for a year..
Finished a pack within hours....
Again Congrats!:00hour

nope. i've made the mistake of having ONE on other attempts to quitting. it doesn't work like that. i will NEVER have a cigarette ever again!

wayne, i'm going to start dealing with the weight on monday. when you saw me in august, i had just gained about 10 pounds and was weighing around 228. this morning 243 :scared i have 30 pounds to lose starting monday. :SIB

It is a lot easier for me to lose weight than it was to quit smoking--I've tapered off some by keeping bag of sunflower seeds by easy chair.
Started on the sald 2 consecutive days last week also--got about 30 lbs to lose myself but will be satisfied with 20 . :)

Brother Bear- I know Jack said this before long ago also but you were certainly an inspiration to quit. I remember ordeal you went through and how you were always there each time for support--hopefully we can be an inspiration to some as you were to us.

my uncle always says that quitting smoking was the hardest thing he ever did but it was also the easiest thing he ever did.

Thanks DTB,
I never would have been successful had I not kept coming here for support....I had quit before but the last time was definitely the toughest and I do not want to do it again! NOW>>>the weight gain...I was 230 when I quit 8 years ago and came in at 243 today (same as you Jack) Lets see who is first to 220... Again NICE JOB!

This is awesome! I never opened this thread because I didn't give two flips about a Chantix drug warning. :)

Great work, Jack and Wayne. Be very proud!!
