Amen to that if they play real baseball why do pitchers that come from NL suck in the AL or the AL pitchers go to NL and are awesome cliff lee was in triple A 2 years ago..............vicente padilla are u kiddin he was put on waivers and no one wanted him...........brad penny WOW john SMOLTZ DOUBLE WOW I can go on and ON Oh lets not forget the big cry baby randy johnson as a yankee ......garbage NL is a joke only reason they won last year is because the Rays were there and not a real AL team
I think that's the best argument for the AL's superiority, IMO. Mediocre to poor pitchers go to the NL and somehow become world beaters. The Cardinals are a great example -- during the end of his tenure with the M's Pineiro was so bad he was almost out of the league completely. The Red Sox took a flyer on him, put him in the bullpen in mop-up duty, and he got shelled. But wouldn't you know it, he gets traded to the NL and somehow sports an ERA barely over 3. Wow.
Franklin was another Mariner who was a #5 type pitcher. Marginal talent at best. He goes to the Cardinals and becomes a lights-out closer. Go figure.

Ridiculous!! Do u think it might have something to do with the staff/pitching coach in pineiro's case in st louis. Carpenter is the only true ace, they rest were made by an excellent staff who can work wonders. Futhermore by this logic are u telling me the lincecum would be garbage in the AL. Bad pitchers regularly get new life with new team and they get light up eventually. Its just like those rookies getting called up, they usually overachieve their first game cuz few have seen their stuff. No doubt the AL has heavy bats but i wont ever say that my dodgers or the phillies couldnt beat the yanks or angels in a series. I hope the Yankees beat the angels so i can get the most value for my dollar when i take a couple shots againts 'em. Ok i will say this , Yanks are looking pretty damn solid, and the Angels are downright scary too. Both beatable.
No pitcher ever succeeds in the AL? How about Carl Pavano having a great year with the Twins, after getting destroyed in NY and doing decent in the NL. What about Jake Peavy flat out mowing down hitters? 20 IP only 3er in the AL.
Real baseball? WTF is a DH? How the hell is that real baseball? LOL...learn how to fucking field a ball for crying out loud.
Padilla was put on waivers because his attitude, not his performance.
Penny was odd man out, and actually had a couple nice starts for BOS
Cards staff said they noticed Smoltz mechanics were off and he was tipping pitches.
Baseball is more than just what you see, and translate it over and over, if you haven't noticed.
BTW- Randy Johnson is an AL guy, and faired pretty well with the M's then the Astros and DBacks...*YAWNS*
Could really go on and on about this all day.
Ever think that maybe it's not just talent? That's why there are pitching coaches. I think Duncan and La Russa are better than anything the Mariners have, well...ever had?? LOL
He gets credit for what? The way they play? They play like a NL team but Gardenhire still doesn't have to do shit compared to an NL team.

The NL managing aspect is way over rated in my opinion. I have watched many national league games and it really isn't that hard to determine when you need to pinch hit for a pitcher and many times an 8th hitter.. That is why the American League is better.. Most teams in the AL have much better hitting in the bottom of the order. Look at interleague play.. The AL teams have no problem going into National League parks and kicking their ass. They have to give up the DH.. It's not better managing.
I will admit that there is more strategy in NL games. There is more bunting, more hit and runs, etc. But that's because the hitters aren't as good, so they have to manufacture runs. "Small ball" is just a euphemism for lack of power.
Lets be real...take away New York and Boston...and where is your real teams? It's obvious why they have the best hitters...because it's where the money is at. Not only that, but lets talk about championships outside of them.
Outside of New York and Boston, the AL is played like the NL, they just have the DH.
Also, for BDB to say that managing in the NL is overrated is to have never watched a game. You say it's so easy, then what do you do if the game is tied, 0-0, 7th inning, runners on 2nd & 3rd, 2 outs. Pitcher is up, pitching great(low pitch count)...do you pull him or pinch hit?
In the AL, no problem, we got the DH...no worries. Not a lick of managing being done.

Every time I read your posts they scream ignorance. Seriously, just about every time. Did you ever play baseball or do you just regurgitate Buster Olney and other non-ball players that think they know the game because they hang out in locker rooms?
