am involved in an internet negotiation for an acura tsx....was quoted a price of $25,600......

then i had the temerity to ask for a quote that included taxes,tags,title,add-ons and any other dealer fees....

the back and forth was immediate....this question seems to have caused a delay in negotiations....lol

BUY A CONDO :00hour

The housing bust has made owning a home a lot more affordable -- but in some places, prices are extraordinary; you can buy a nice condo for less than the cost of a new family car.

Some cities have dozens of attractive condominium listings selling for $50,000 or $25,000. There are some selling for less than a new Toyota Corolla. And these are not derelict hovels in crime-ridden communities: These homes are often in move-in condition and located in nice neighborhoods.

"Not to sound like a salesman, but there are some real bargains out there," said Kevin Berman, a broker with Bankers Realty Services in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The housing bust has taken down the national median home price by about 23% since 2007, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR). But condo have fallen even further, down about 25%.

In Sacramento, Calif., condo prices have fallen 59% from what they averaged in 2007, according to NAR. Miami condo prices have plunged 65%, and in Las Vegas they are off 66%.

Prices of individual units are down even more. One condo in Deerfield Beach, Fla., that sold for $115,000 five years ago now lists for $25,000. That's a drop of nearly 80%.

Much of these price drops can be attributed to over development during the boom. Much of that came in Sand State markets such as Las Vegas Miami and Phoenix, where prices for all properties are have fallen precipitously.

Berman has a one bedroom condo in one of these areas with a listing price of $15,000. He said it needs a little work, and it's in a community that doesn't allow you to rent out the property,, but still, $15,000?

"It's great for a vacation property or a retirement home," he said.

Another of his listings is in North Miami, about three miles from the beach. It's a 900-square foot, one-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath with a community swimming pool, central air and assigned parking that costs just $23,450. That's less than a fully loaded new Camry.

In Las Vegas, there are more than 200 condos listed for $30,000 or less. A two-bedroom, two-bath condo with a covered patio in North Las Vegas can be had for just $30,000.

the guy told me the destination fee was roughly a grand....that seems a bit high to me....and i know these s.o.b.`s get a hold back of around 3% from the manufacturer that`s released to them after a sale....

tough business...

i hear the new malibus are fairly nice...and much cheaper...

not a bad deal wease

not a bad deal wease

My 2006 was 28,200 out the door..

The 2010 has a better layout and better torque curve, all the first year issues have been resolved on the 2010 (2008-2009 model change)

The 2011 is going to have a sports wagon version....supposedly.

The engine and tranny is bullet proof....I plan on keeping mine till it falls apart..sweet ride and great gas mileage.

No more 2010's are being produced till 2011 changes if any.
Maybe you can score a DEMO? or a low mileage 2009?

I have 48k on mine already (2009) and absolutely love it! LTZ, loaded just no sunroof! Nice, everything still tight, leather (two-tone) holding up well!

I highly recommend so far!!

PS: I have recv'd numerous comments at gas stations, parking lots etc., where people have come over to look at the car, and ask what it is. I have the black metallic paint, but it is eye catching.

yeah, but you just don`t know what you`re getting...what underlying issues are gonna cause you heartaches down the road...with a newbie(in exchange for roughly 50% immediate depreciation:0008 ),you get a 4 year 50k mile warranty....

it`s strange...the fricking alero ignition/passkey issue might be resolved....

when i put the key in the ignition, instead of just turning it on or moving it to ACC(like i was) i turn rhe key one more position to ON...i hesitate before engaging it in the START position....

when i hit the ON position and stop(or just pause a beat before engaging the ignition),i hear a hum inside the dashboard.....every time....and every time i hear that hum,the mofo starts right up.....

sometimes i can start it right up from OFF....but it`s hit or miss.....and sometimes it can take a long time fooling with it to get it to start...occasionally,it just has to sit for a good long time...and that`s very f-cking aggravating...especially when you travel in inner city neighborhoods on a regular basis...

now, every time i turn the key to ON and hesitate(there goes the hum),it starts like new....

it`s a very nice car...all leather,electric seats,two-way sunroof....fog lights,am-fm/cd w/ nice speaker system....rear window defrost...sporty alloy wheels...spoiler....

honestly, its a good looking little car... with a mofo of a powerful 6 cyl engine.....

if it just keeps starting like it`s supposed to,i`ll keep my $28,300 in my pocket....

btw....i was doing serious research on the net...trying to get a handle on what kind of deal i was getting from my acura dealer.......and it`s not a bad deal....the destination charge is legit($860)...and the same price i saw quoted in two forums(w/destination and before taxes/tags/title) was what my dealer was offering(roughly $26,4 & change)....

so they weren`t screwing me....

i`m beginning to believe that theres actually very little bargaining(at least downward) beyond what they offer....from what i`ve seen on the net, their baseline offer (at least to me over the net) was as low as they usually go....

and i appreciate that....

if the alero reverts back to shitty form,i`ll revisit the tsx....

i would recommend anyone shopping for a new car to make their first contact via the internet....seems to cut through much of the bullshit...

GW, you should check out Copart.com.

A friend of mine just got me on it. You can find companies on there that will let you bid on any auction you want. You do all the bidding online. The guy I'm using is charging me 200 which is a good deal. I've been looking for a second car to toy around in. I almost bid on one today and it was about half of what I've been seeing from dealers.

I did see a 10 tsx with 10700 miles on it that is going up tomorrow. The ACV is listed at 27k but I'm guessing it goes somewhere south of 21k. You still have a warrantee so there's not much risk.

i could never do that sight unseen,layin`....at least looking on the net with a local dealer,i get to lay hands and eyes on what i`m buying....

i could never spend that kind of money from afar...

i`m old school...

GW, you've already laid your hands on one. There all the same when they're that new and have the same features. It has a lot of pics of the exterior and interior. You can pay a small amount of money to have a professional inspector look it over for you. It really is a great way to go, especially for one that you'll get the full warrantee on. Why no if you could save 4 or 5k or more.

LOL, I understand and to be honest I probably wouldn't do it for my main car but since this is just for a toying car around then it's not as big of a deal to me.

trying to bait the hook...:0008

my last correspondence to the acura rep....

""as i indicated,we`re still a little off(not that much) on what i want to spend..you`ve hit your best price on the first go-round so.i`m thinking that i might wait for the 2011`s to hit the market and see if maybe we can save several hundred on last year`s model...

if we can`t find some common ground at that time,i may have to consider a buick or a vw......

you`ve been much help...and i appreciate your corresponding with me via the internet...ashamed we hit a snag....but if i don`t do something somewhere else before the 2011`s come out, maybe we can revisit the negotiation....

love the tsx`s...great vehicle...

thanks again...""

The 2010 tsx went for 19100. For only 10k miles on it that's a pretty damn good deal. You still have a lot of warrantee left on that car.

wonder why someone would sell a brand new tsx with 10 k miles on it?.....and basically give away almost 10 grand?

that`s what i would question...
