can use it w/ham stew..

peas..snap beans..potatoes..collards..

sliced thin w/mustard and pickle w/a rye bread will cut down on the 2 glasses of tea per bite..

I would think you could soak it just like you would before cookin'

I always soak them when company is coming over to share..

gotta be tuff..to eat those salt cured Va. Hams..

I think I am going to slice it and soak it them make some pea soup

I will let you know how turns out

I must have drank a 1/2 gallon of water xmas night and still woke up with a dry mouth

FYI I soaked the ham first in warm water and then drained and put in cold water and let it sit overnight.

It did take lots of the salty taste out.

Thanks for all the help :0008

Now on to make pea soup today

you can make a great batch of navy bean soup with it as well..

soak the beans for about 36 hours..
