23yo kid pitched his fir MLB game last week. He started the game and pitched 6 no hit innings and they took him out leading 4-0. They lost the game 7-5 in extra innings.

The kid had a chance to make MLB history by pitching a no hitter in his first start. WTF is going on?

It's like they are forced to use him. Did they at least pat him on the ass and say 'good game, kid'

Next start coming Friday
June 21, 2023
Sheehan is slated to start Friday's game against the Astros in Los Angeles, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
After Sheehan tossed six no-hit innings in his MLB debut last Friday against the Giants, manager Dave Roberts confirmed the rookie would receive at least one more turn through the Dodgers rotation.
The skipper didn't initially clarify whether Sheehan would take the hill for Wednesday's road game in the Angels or at some point during the series with Houston, but the young right-hander is now officially locked in to make his second career start versus the reigning World Series champions. The length of Sheehan's stay with the big club will likely hinge on how he performs versus Houston and any additional starts that may follow, as well as the availability of Julio Urias (hamstring), who could be ready to rejoin the rotation at some point late next week.

Just another reason why MLB is a fucking joke. Just add this one to the list..........

Why anybody watches this shit league is beyond me.

I'd rather watch Chrissy Metz take a shit than watch a MLB game.

they baby the shit out of these kids these days. they think they're protecting them, but instead it seems to have the opposite effect.

although it did take him 89 pitches to get through those 6 innings. he probably would have been over 120 to get through 9. so almost no way he completes that game regardless.

Slipping on an Oakland A’s jersey as a starting pitcher 30 years ago meant being dressed for the nines.

Come hell or high-water pants with socks pulled to the knees, Manager Billy Martin expected his starters to throw a complete game — pitch counts be damned.

“If you didn’t go nine innings,” said Steve McCatty, one of the A’s starters, “you didn’t feel like you did your job.”

Oakland’s pitching staff in 1980 and ’81 combined for 154 complete games in 271 starts — nearly 57%. (This season, through Sunday, there had been a total of 118 complete games in the major leagues, in 2,840 starts — 4%.)
