What I meant was, my outside unit needs a new compressor. I weighed the difference in price between getting it fixed and getting a new unit. If I replace the outside unit and say 2 years down the road I need a new furnace, I would have to replace the outside unit again for the new furnace...- MadJack

I did. Both said the same thing. Difference in cost $2400. Better unit and better warranty with the more expensive one. Both local, both have good reputations, both family businesses for over 25 years.- MadJack
