:moon: Actually, I do. I ain't ashamed to admit it. It's a dirt cheap way to test betting systems without losing your butt if they dont pan out. lol

If they work a little, I move to Oly and bet $5, then once I get some confidence a system or theory I move over to WWTS and bet $10. :) You said it perfectly in so many words, very easy and stress-less way to test some ideas.

Hey, you asked!! :D

KotysDad, probably the 'smart' thing to do. gotta give you credit....you'll never get hurt like a lot of us have in the past. and, you still have fun with it too.

you don't have to tell me but.........what's the MOST you've ever bet on one event?

just curious.

I dont mind sharing my betting values. Before I started this online stuff, my average wager was about $25-$50 with my locals. My largest wager was $300 on the Pistons over the Lakers in the 89 Finals, but it was rare for me to ever bet more than $50. My local wasnt a very convenient way to wager, so I wasnt fearful of things getting out of hand. Online is a different thing to me. It's so easy to chase losers and lose your ass when you have 24 hour access to betting games online.

My average online wager is anywhere to 1x-2x whatever the minimum of that book happens to be. I do this strictly for kicks. Once it gets stressful, I'd have to give it up. I never knew about this stuff before a co-worker who is friends with Nolan pointed me to his page and this site. I absolutely love it, as long as it stays under control. I am too risk-adverse to worry about it getting out of hand though.

I think my largest online wager was around $50 also. Most of them are less than $25 though.

Jack,

Kotysdad hit the nail on the head.

When TRYING TO LEARN TO HANDICAP or TRYING TO SMOOTH OUT THE LARGE WRINKLES FROM AN EXISTING SYSTEM, betting the absolute minimum is wise.

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE TIME TO WAGER.

Then, once you learn to handicap and hit that 7 teamer, the sportsbook can say, "I'm glad that SOB only played it for $10 rather than $100."

At SIA, I would parlay the scores of 3 English Premier Soccer Games, and bet 1 dollar each. Each would pay out 600-800 dollars. I would do a total of 30 combinations, so spend 30 bucks overall.

During Champions League games, I noticed that almost every game was very low scoring (1-0, 0-0, 0-1 etc). So I parlayed multiple combos of the 3 game conclusions on certain teams and won my first attempt (around 650 bucks). I tried 2 or 3 times after and didn't win, so I gave up as I was probably just lucky as hell the first time around. I was afraid SIA wouldn't pay out but they did in the end.

So yes, that was one system I found 1 dollar bets to be very useful.

5-Dimes has dollar minimuns....when I had an account with them, I did a 8 team parlay with them every single night for 1 dollar - I never won - but thats a hell of a deal if you hit it....$1 wins 600-800 bucks

All hostility aside, I think it is mental. Alot of us at one point or another pound the belief into our head that once we step out, we get creamed but if we stay conservative we would win.

I also think chasing is something that makes this belief worse then it really is as the timing just isn't there.

All us Asians in the DFW bet using the "dollar" system. Unfortunately, $1.00 for us when bet is equivalant to $100.00. I lost a good $26.50 in the NBA playoffs and am still licking my wounds. I'm still waiting on the Spurs game to go over...
