On the Saigon black market I sold my 4 cartons for $40.00.....My Navy pay was about $43 a week.
$40 dollars was a lot of coin in the day....
Drinks at the base club (if you had one) were nickel beers (laced with formaldehyde) and a stiff shot was a dime. (happy hour was 2 for 1) LOTS of drunks were created in the service.:toast:

The VC insurgents would throw packets of marijuana or heroin over the perimeters every once in awhile.
