Too many generalizations and not enough humility. Had he presented it as one man's opinion rather than fact I think the tone would have been more tolerable. Regardless of how many countries he has been to, it's still just one man's experiences.

To wit: "As Americans, we have this na?ve assumption that people all over the world are struggling and way behind us. "

Well maybe he thought that, but I never did? Him speaking for all Americans is just a bit too much for me.

Anyhow I still agree with some of the statements he made!

Decent article. I always suspected the rest of the world doesn't think about us 24/7 and are probably annoyed at our hypocritical posturing about human rights when they do. There are a lot of generalizations. I still wouldn't go out late at night by myself in some countries. Also, while Russia did sacrifice the most to defeat Hitler they also could not have done it without the help of us and Britian.

Good read.

#3 = 100 percent correct.

Of course it is.

But it's like saying that the problem with supporters of FC Barcelona is that they no nothing about my daughter's soccer team. Why would they care?

My daughter's soccer team just watches them on TV, playing with so much talent, playing in the big matches, wishing that they were them. But you'd have to be an idiot to expect them to have the same focus on us.

Well, he did write this disclosure:

(Note: I realize these are generalizations and I realize there are always exceptions. I get it. You don?t have to post 55 comments telling me that you and your best friend are exceptions. If you really get that offended from some guy?s blog post, you may want to double-check your life priorities.)
