I have no problem with them making $15 an hour. That isn't exactly a windfall in today's society. How much is a CEO really worth? Before you answer that though, consider if you've ever worked at either profession and if not would you want them deciding what you're worth at your job?

I'm a small business owner and I assure you I pay my workers more than my competitors but I'm still living comfortably by my measure. I'll never be wealthy maybe not even rich monetarily.
My employees so by on off days all the time, just to say hello. Jay's wife put together two very nice Easter baskets for my grandkids and dropped them off this morning. So I'm quite wealthy in many ways, at least the ways that are important to me.

I think McDonalds would benefit greatly if they raised their wages to $15 an hour. I haven't been there in over ten years and neither has anyone in my immediate family. The food sticks and they treat their employees like shit so I avoid the shit hole.
What I don't understand is why some people complain about the poor being a class of takers that always have their hands out, yet they are not willing to support anything that would allow them to "work" their way out of poverty. It makes no sense.
If you're going to protest and rail against welfare because you feel like your taxes are footing the bill, than why fight to keep welfare as the better option between it and working for a livable income?

There are plenty of jobs out there for fifteen dollars and hour, if you are willing to learn a skill or trade.
What type of work do your employees do?

I don't consider that to be a fair wage for skilled tradesmen.

Agreed, I would not hire a 15.00 an hour plumber or electrician. But if you want to make more than the current minimum wage, there are plenty of opportunities out there if you want to learn some type of skill, whether it be how to type (which I obviously never did) or how to operate a machine. Entry level positions where you learn as you go, and earn more as you learn more.

Happy employees make for good business -- and happy customers, too.

Wegmans nabbed the top spot on Consumer Reports' annual list of the best supermarkets in America, and it wasn't just cleanliness or customer service that made it stand out from its competitors -- it was the quality of its produce that customers loved. It also happens to be a great place to work.

The chain received strong reviews across the board for the freshness its products, from vegetables and meats to bakery items and prepared foods. CEO Danny Wegman credits the company's employees for these results.

?A big thank you goes to our employees," CEO Danny Wegman said in a statement. "Results like these are only possible because of our people and because we are paying attention to the things that matter most to our customers."

For a relatively small chain with just 85 stores, Wegmans does a stellar job of taking care of its workers. It recently edged out Amazon to earn the top ranking for company reputation, and it?s known for offering school scholarships and other benefits to its employees. It also dedicates resources to ensuring its workers move up the ladder: 66 percent of its promotions are internal.

Consumer Reports' supermarket rankings come from an annual survey, which received nearly 63,000 reader responses on 68 chains. Wegmans was voted number one last year, as well.

Publix and Trader Joe?s rounded out the top three supermarkets in overall score, though they fell behind in produce freshness. The only other two chains that earned top marks for freshness were The Fresh Market and Whole Foods.

Warehouse stores like BJ?s, Target, Walmart and Sam?s Club got below-average ratings on produce freshness and sat in the bottom half of the list. But Costco fared better, with sixth place overall and an average ranking for produce quality.

Whole Foods is known for having a strong benefits program, with even part-time employees eligible for insurance. Workers can also earn rewards for productivity at work.

Costco also treats its employees well: they earn around 40 percent more than staff at competitor chains. And at Trader Joe's, the starting pay for a worker is between $40,000 and $60,000 a year, more than double the salary at some other stores.:SIB

Retail giants like Walmart and Target, however, have been continuously lambasted by critics and labor unions for their low wages. Under growing pressure, they are among a number of retailers that have moved to increase hourly wages in recent months.

Well those who want to move up in any fast food franchise can..

Years ago big long TV ad about teen girl worker at MC D's making less than $7 per hr. grew up to become top executive of east coast earning $175,000.00 a year!

I also know personally people who worked at burger king moved up into manager of that store them up into local district mgr. Today salary per year is $75,000 a year...

However these upper tier jobs would cause you to relocate to who knows where

It's not just is that all sir? Each franchise will pay your tuition to learn what you need to know to move up the corporate ladder.

drivers at Dominos can move up by learning each job in thier local store

See this is where I have a problem is when conservatives justify every argument against something with a doom and gloom prediction and none of them ever come true. Death panels, gasoline prices will hit $5.50 a gallon, stimulus package will ruin the economy, President Obama will be impeached because of some stupid scandal that never was, the country is in ruins, my insurance quadruple cubed, and none of has ever come true.

Here's what would really happen if minimum wage were increased, capitalism would happen. CEOs and upper management may lose their gross bonus but burger prices won't budge because consumers still rule the day. People won't pay that much for the shit they serve and they'll have to come right back into industry standard to keep up with other burger joints. You'll also have more people with money in their pocket than just the one at the top. Is pretty much the core ideology behind capitalism

I get tired of having to prove what a moron you are, but here are the FACTS about McDonalds wages and prices:

McDonald's workers in the US make a median hourly wage of $9.15, according a New York Times report citing PayScale, a firm that tracks compensation data. McDonald's does not provide data on its wages.

"In Denmark, McDonald's workers over the age of eighteen earn more than $20 an hour ? they are also unionized ? and the price of a Big Mac is only thirty-five cents more than it is in the United States," Finnegan writes.

Thanks to unionization, workers in Denmark also get paid sick leave and overtime pay.

On average, the Big Mac costs about $4.80 in the US and $5.15 in Denmark, according to the Economist's Big Mac index, which tracks the price of Big Macs across the world.

And so you can see hedge, that you are completely wrong. Again. And as you usually are - an uninformed fucking idiot.

As FDC would say - Hope This Helps.:mj07:

How hard is it to run a bulldozer? Not too fucking, yet they don't make $8hr. The "value" of a job is certainly based on what it takes to do the job, to some extent. I think the other value is: Do YOU want to do that job?

So many people don't want to give a few more bucks to a guy making $8-9hr, and the funny thing is, the majority of those whiners are the people just one rung up the ladder, who bitch about how shitty THEY have it!

"I haven't had a raise in so long.......My insurance costs are rising.......the cost of living is always going up....." etc, etc.

Somehow, YOU are worth more, but these pieces of shit aren't? It's always funny when the water reaches OUR noses, how we react, but when it's only up to our ankles, "fuck everyone drowning!"
