10 years and counting for me, Bear. Dont miss it a bit. Feel better, look better, saved money, and dont look so cold in the middle of winter hanging around outside my office building smoking a cigarette when its 20 degrees.

Very proud of this accomplishment as it is one insidious habit.

I quit about 3 1/2 years ago. It is so true about how much better you feel when you've quit. I keep trying to talk my sisters into trying it. They never listen though!!!!

Nice job bear, haskell and helen on quitting. Jasonsmom, it would be a lot easier for you to quit if you cut way back on your drinking. drinking and smoking go together. also all that alcohol isn't good for you either. take up pot, you will kill 2 birds with one stoner. you'll get your buzz and also your tobacco fix.

:toast: Good job Big Bear. Proud of ya. Wish I could have had your strength and stayed off em and bet Jack does to. We will keep trying.

Justinsmom had good point bout people smoking more when they drink. Have some friends that only smoke when they drink. Met a girl at bar one time that said she only smoked when she drank. I asked her if she smoked when she had sex. She said she didn't know she never looked.:scared

glad to hear it, bear. nice job! i only lasted 4 months or so but i do know that i can quit if i have to now ;)

it never bothered me too much after the first 5 days but once the holiday season hit, i couldn't resist.

maybe i'll try again some other time.

i finally lost off the 30-some pounds i gained during my non-smoking period and feel a lot better about that. christ! i went from a 36 waist to a snug 40. now i'm back into a comfy 36 and at 6'4" not too bad for a 48 year old.

congrats!

Four years for me. Towards the end of my smoking days it seemed I was always craving a smoke. It seemed like you couldn't smoke anywhere but outside and as a result I was always craving one because for years I always had a cigarette in my mouth. I really find it easier now. And the extra money doesn't hurt. To those of you thinking of quiting it will be one of the best things you can do for yourself and your family.
