2020 Season

I follow the Nats closer than any team, so most of my plays will be on their games.

Nationals Ov 7.5

Crazy bet based on the pitching match up, BUT

How long can the starters last?
The Nats hit power pitchers.
Scherzer gives up HRs and the Yankees hit HRs.
Nats bullpen still very questionable.
In the playoffs this line would be 5.5.

Enough for me to go with runs.

What the Nats did last year with their bullpen will likely never be accomplished again. They can win without Rendon and the DH really helps them. The greatly shortened season could be a real benefit to them if the starters get up to speed fast and the key veterans (Hendrick, Cabrera, Castro and Thames) start quickly. Zimmerman would have fit in nicely with the old man platoon but he pussied out. The Nats won it all with the worst bullpen in baseball because their starters dominated in the playoffs. I said they were the only team that could beat the Dodgers last year and I think the same this year. IF, Scherzer, Strasburg and Corbin stay healthy they should make the playoffs and will again be a very tough team to beat in a series. Injuries are always a huge factor, but much, much more important this year. If a starter gets hurt, he is basically out for the season, so the Nats starters have to stay healthy as they have little depth after the 5th starter because Joe Ross also pussied out.

I have never loved the long baseball season, so I am actually looking forward to this one because every single game really counts in a 60 game season. A few blown saves can actually cost you the division. Manager blunders are more crucial. No real need to rest players, etc. Should see much better focus and intensity from players as they have little time to impress for that next contract. Should be interesting.

Played O's/Sox over 9.5 last night. Orioles should be a good over play as their pitching staff sucks but they do have some guys who can hit.

Cobb has not pitched in a long time and he was horrible before he got injured and the O's bullpen is not good.

Strasburg was a total stud last year and is the reason the Nats won the WS. However, he is a creature of habit and is very particular. I am not expecting his A game today as I think he has a tough time adjusting to all these changes. Also, I think the team is a little off with Soto out, so I am playing

Do not like the Nats game because I have no idea what to expect from Sanchez and can not trust their lineup to score runs. I lean to the Over but going with another play:

They have to be pissed losing 2 of 3 to the Orioles. I think Wacha will struggle for the Mets and they should rebound from getting crushed last night. I know nothing about the Red Sox starter.

I am playing this solely because there is no way the Nats should be -150 with Voth pitching in addition to the way they are playing. They are starting the season just like last year: no clutch hitting, errors, base running mistakes and stupid manager decisions. They are still in spring training and are missing Soto big time. Now the reason they are -150 is because Roark has not been good at all in pre-season. However, Roark is a competitor and he has to be pumped to face his former team. As long as he does not get killed in the first few innings Toronto should be able to put enough runs on the board to win. No way I would lay this number with the Nats right now, so just too much value in this line to ignore in my opinion. I also like the Over.

If I see a line for the NYY game I will be on the Over.

Yes, Scherzer is pitching and I love Max, but his team is playing horrible baseball right now and I have no faith that they can score. I will take these kind of odds each and every time. Max will give up a homer or two and then the bullpen will give up a few more. Toronto has six solo home runs in two games and has now won 7 straight against the Nats. Scherzer at home and less than -200+ does not happen often, so it shows just how bad the Nats have been so far. They look like a team that is simply not ready to play, especially in the field where they have been horrible. They are also facing a pitcher no one has ever seen. The Nats are simply a great go against right now especially at these odds.

Will likely be on the O's over if it ever gets posted.

I thought I posted the Orioles again yesterday with a nice long write up, but I screwed something up.

Oh well, I am playing them once again today. These lines are ridiculous. Tampa can not hit and the Orioles can hit the ball. They have a bunch of guys most people have never heard of but they have been money. Huge dogs every game and they are 4-3. Odds on the sweep are tough but I already have two wins in a row with them so why not after beating the Ray's two best pitchers. O's are playing decent baseball, if they get ay kind of pitching help they are not as bad as the oddsmakers think, so I am happy to take them every time the favorite is +200 or more.

Thanks. They have been a money making machine. Will be interesting to see the lines against the Marlins. They may actually be a favorite. They are getting great pitching right now. If, and it is a huge if, they keep that up they can compete because, as I have said all along, they can hit. Hanser Alberto is one the best hitters in baseball and I expect most have never heard of him.

Nats (who appear to be on vacation) and O's are off today, so nothing to play for me.

I am going back to the well one more time despite the odds:

First game back in a week for the Marlins against a very young team full of confidence. I think the O's can keep it going but it is rare to see them as a favorite. Maybe it comes crashing down but do not think they could be playing a better team to keep the win streak going.

Mets+140/Red Sox +120 - little parlay action. I really do not love playing against the Nats today because Corbin was very, very good in his first start, but I will take a shot with the Mets in a parlay at a good price given how the rest of the Nats are playing. Will parlay them with the Red Sox which is more of a continued play against the Rays. Small play but nice payout.

Boy did I suck it up yesterday. I have come to a couple of conclusions so far and that is that the Red Sox are not very good and the Mets are mostly a mess right now.

As I have said before, he is a strange dude and very particular. He is out of his routine so I do not expect him to be great in his first outing. He likely will not go long either which plays into the Orioles favor since the Nats bullpen is back to being a disaster.

Really like how Brandon Hyde is managing this team while I am not sure what Davey Martinez is doing. I do not understand why Kieboom is not playing every day. What is the point of having him there if he is going to sit. Turner, Eaton and Robles are all struggling and this team can not score if they do not get on base because they do not have a lot of power. 33 runs in 11 games is rather pathetic. Nats are just not a team you can bet on right now because they can not score and have an unreliable bullpen.
