Bucs are a solid play at PICK in 2H.....Ramsey will play at QB for Washington, and should have some problems with offense. Tampa should have the edge with King/Johnson at QB, and a better defense. Forget the UNDER in 2H -- these creeps in the stripes have already made two ridiculous pass interferance calls that cost me at least 7 points on the total. These phuckers like to throw flags.

Nolan, I would really love your input on something. I have been playing the team total over for Wash all preseason, and so far it has been good. I made a promise to myself when Spurrier was hired that I would give this play serious consideration all season long. Now I realize that this is only preseason, but somehow he manages to pump these scrubs up and wants to score score score. I know that defenses will get better as the season progresses, but I just can't help but feel that this play will have pretty good value all season long. Do you see the offense show continuing for the better part of the regular season in D.C.? Thanks in advance.

Just as a general rule it is risky to play anything all season long. Certainly at this point taking the team over for the Skins looks like it could work early in the season, but in most cases the public catches up quick and lines move. The one exception I can really think of is the 1999 Rams. I read that books got killed that year because plenty of people just kept betting Rams/over parlays once they saw how great that offense was.

First of all -- sorry about the bad pick. Four Tampa turnovers in the 2H and two easy defensive scores for the Redskins basically gift wrapped this one.

There are several reasons I don't like the OVER on Washington regular season games (without seeing the totals or considering the circumstances). This is not to say I like the UNDER, just that I'm wary about knee-jerking an "obvious" play. First, everyone in the world is going to like the OVER on these games and the totals are going to be pumped up near Rams totals at this rate. Look for totals in the high 40s on many Redskins games, especially if the defense struggles.

Next, I still don't trust the Washington starting QBs. This group is average at best. Once they face bliz packages and first team defenses for 60 full minutes, I don't think they will be nearly as successful. Washington also commits an atrocious number of penalties on offense (which tells me the units has trouble grasping the fundamentals) -- and that's bad for the OVER.

One thing in favor of the OVER -- Redskins are going to commit a lot of turnovers and that could help the scoring.

In short, I will take each game on a case by case basis. I disagree with the Redskins games being easy OVERS because the public is going to inflate the numbers.

Good luck,

Nolan Dalla

Thank you both for your input. I know that the lines will indeed be inflated all season, but I guess if I am to really give this play serious consideration week in and week out, I will have to study it more than my other picks. Best of luck to the both of you. You both undoubtedly offer a lot of insight to this forum.

I think the handicappers will have a hard time to figure the Redskins and point spread considerations. Spurrier is so unconvential. His pass, pass, pass philosophy will create scores and turnovers and total chaos. He is always looking for the pass play.

I am going to be careful playing the over, only because the linesmakers will inflate the number each week. Perhaps the UNDER will be a valued play..??

be careful with the overs

be careful with the overs

marvin lewis could have the best corner and linebacking units in the league....and this is exactly how the super bowl raven defense was constructed.....once this group starts jelling, they will be very tough....god, i hate the redskins...
