This pattern will continue as education replaces indoctrination. With much of religious beliefs, there is a pressure to follow along and conform, no matter your gut, to preserve the "community". That pressure is seen with our public representatives. They are all religious when they have to be....this isn't much different.

I could not agree more with this post, have argued on this forum about this with gnroz in the past. I am flat out tolerant of the beliefs of others, unless if you are a crook or a bigot. Living in new Orleans, I know thousands of intelligent, thoughtful individuals who maintain creationist views. Do I hold those views? Not at all, but to condemn those folks as idiots is flat out wrong.

i`m fine with atheism.....i get it.....i love me some atheists on this site.......but i`m not alright with condescending "smug bastard" athesim...and it`s not because i`m some bible thumper.....i`m certainly not...

live and let live...why try and drive wedges between folks in this forum(the wrong forum,btw)....

that`s all i`m saying on this....:shrug:

Again, I could not agree more.

Smug condesending atheists piss me off. As a nonbeliever myself, I find it disturbing how bill maher, for example, talks to people of the cloth.

I agree with you that kickserv was out of line in posting this in general.

What kind of belief is it when you aren't even able to defend it without crying for "tolerance"? The last thing a "believer" ever wants to do is ante up and play their hand....because it is a loser, and they know it. It's easier to fold.

While his views parallel mine, I take exception to his classifying believers as ignorant sheep. I have more respect for others than he does in this regard, but I was glad to know he does not act like this in person.
