If your point was that leaving a child outside alone with pits was cause for the death, you would have said:
"Maybe don't leave your young child unattended int he first place and he is still alive today".
The heart defect is irrelevant....but when you make the statement you did:
"Maybe don't leave your young child
with a heart defect unattended in the first place and he is still alive today."
In implies the heart defect is somehow related to his death. If you argue it doesn't, then what the fuck relevance does it have in that sentence.
