I'm still debating whether or not to go with an LCD or Plasma:

Plasma: heavier, more fragile, better contrast ratios (blacker black and whiter white), greater viewing angles, burnout not really an option anymore with newer models

LCD: lighter, more durable, not as good with contrast but better models like sony are good now, less of a viewing angle, no burnout but pixel fixation could happen, better for houses with a lot of natural light (no glare).

Overall I still read that plasma has the slight edge but really I can't decide??

I read an interesting article that I cannot find online at the moment however it said in a nutshell:

up to 37 inches go with LCD

37-50 inches go with Plasma

over 50 inches go with projection

as far as best viewing... the TV and price looks good to me...

If you end up tracking it down I'd be interested in reading it.

Don't forget the life span on the plasma is much shorter then LCD.

See I don't think this is true anymore.

From one site that was also echoed on many others:

"Plasma TVs can suffer from burn-in produced by static images. After extended periods, stationary images "burn in" and produce an after-image ghost which remains permanently on the screen. With technologies such as 'pixel orbitor,' new plasma TVs have addressed burn-in and significantly reduced the issues of older models."

You might want to try a DLP. Great picture, last longer than a plasma and cheaper.
Until you have to replace the lamp or the wheel. My parents have a Samsung DLP and it looks horribile on regualr Standard TV coming from Direct Tv.

Meanwhile the Sony 50" LCD I have looks 12 rimes better.

My sister bought a 36in LCD for my gamer nephews for Christmas and when she asked the guy about an extended warranty he said "I love telling people this..we don't have extended warranties, tape the reciept to the back of the the TV and if you are ever unhappy with it, we will take it back, no questions asked." :scared

Costco rocks, I love that store.

Do you have to buy the TV's in packs of 12 also? That place is nuts. I mean 12 bars of soap?!... Who lives that long?
