If you look at my picks for this week, you will notice that I include the name of the Sportsbook I made the picks at. That way, if anyone wants to question the liens that I posted, they can simply look it up. How come no one else in here does that?

JYD, if I tell you the name of my local book, how does that help anyone? Post your plays. Unless the line is off 3 points or so no one will say a word. Good luck buddy !

Could this be the answer?

Could this be the answer?

Maybe they don't want to admit they live in Vegas?

We used to vacation in Vegas twice or more a year and always rented a car and stayed for a full week. That was before 2001. :scared We absolutely LUVED that place. Not sure if it was before our last stay there or 2nd from last time we were there that we got up around 7 A.M. to make sure we'd get to McCarran by 10 for our return flight home. I turned on the TV and see an airplane hit a N.Y. skyscraper. DANG! What follows?... . You know, like no underwear left, only one prescription pill that I take left, socks, etc. Yeah, our vacation wasn't over for THREE more days - no plans in the sky, no music in the hotels, quiet, very subdued out there. That's understandable. OF COURSE, casinos stayed open.

Well, about 16 years later (2018) we decided to go back to our favorite vacation "paradise" - good ole 'Vegas, baby'.

What a flukin mistake that was!

Maybe it's endurable for folks who live there, but I know a LOT of tourists are disappointed these days. Surprise hefty daily resort fees even at downtown hotels, pay to park at strip hotels, exorbitant prices on EVERYthing, traffic galore (thank God we didn't rent a car this time), the rebuilt monster hotels the billionaire blood suckers built with a heavy doses of glitz and bling to attract the suckers which gets boring after a few days, OH.. and how about changing the rules of some games like no more 3x on the 12 in the field on craps, tightened slots, and how about the reduced payout in blackjack (not sure how many hotels enforce this one), and more? My vacation these days is going elsewhere or sitting at my desk with a pizza and drink of choice and betting with online books that offer MUCH more variety, choices, and opportunities playing sports than Vegas and they are available 24 hr. a day.

How bout getting around in that mess whether on foot or car? You see a hotel you'd like to visit across the strip and now you get out the binoculars to see where the next overpass is, which includes over 50 steps to climb when you get to it, to get across. It wasn't that way before. Walking from one of the monster hotels to the one "next door" is a mini field trip and when you do get to open the door of the place too often you got a football field length path through ripoff shops along with places like Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, Starbucks along the way and get ripped off with Las Vegas adjusted prices. I think we musta walked about 5 miles that week.

I broke even on gambling mostly thanks to "bubble craps" and that's really a win after spending a week there. I was ahead close to $300 mid-week, but you know how gamblin goes, right?

Sorry if this belongs in a different forum but I put it here to help answer jungyardog's question. I don't have any questions about betting right now.

Have a good Sat. MJers.

Very true. Vegas is not what it used to be. When the Mob ran Vegas, the actual Hotel was nothing but a convenience so people could get some food, some rest, and other comps that we will not get into here. The Casino was the business. All the hotel was expected to do was to serve good food at varying prices, and break even financially. The casino was the money maker. Crime did not exist. They had empty graves dug in the desert waiting for people dumb enough to try and steal or rough up a mob hotel guest.

Today it is totally different. The Yuppies are the worlds biggest suckers. Dumb does not come close to describing them. They are totally worthless, but do not think so themselves. They have to show the world just how macho they are. Hotels are now run by huge conglomerations and the competition is tough, so they jack prices up on everything. They charge an arm and a leg for a decent meal. No more free drinks (unfortunately I am old enough to remember when they gave away free cigarettes also). No 3/2 on Blackjack. No triple up on 12 on the crap table. Tighter slots. Tighter sports lines because they are all computerized and connected now so you cannot get a big spread between Sportsbooks any more. But the Yuppies fall for this hook, line, and sinker. They ruined it for the people who used to love Vegas. The wife and I still go because we are still connected, but it is really getting to be a pain in the arse. Fortunately I quit smoking also. Biggest mistake in my life was to start smoking.

Broadly speaking most people do not post the book they get the line from because MJ's would prefer to have sportsbooks referred to that only sponsor them.

Other people do not post where the lines come from because they use locals.

Other place their bets on X day and post here on Y day so lines may not line up.

I personally do not post plays if the line I bet it at is no longer available. It happens a lot because I focus on small college only (FCS, D2, D3). My wager alone can move a line 3 points. So it is hard for me to post.

Also, certain types of bets small college, 10 minute wagers in CBB mainly come from just one house and most everyone here knows which house.

I would hope with the usage of computers etc that most every line you post would be readily available and by using some of the line collators you can see what game and then just shop the line to find the best line available. Your play and where you played are not as important as the information you hopefully share.

Some people just post lists of plays and for the most part those people have earned that respect i.e. Hawkeye, Riff, BG and others. Other folks come in posting tout plays i.e. World Worst picker plays... Few people come in and do writeups anymore. I find the reason that most of us do not do writeups is because we have been able to monetize our information in some other format, website, or betting group.

Long winded but that is my response.

They still give free drinks and cigarettes and there is still 3/2 BJ. Meals are still free and there are no resort fees if you are "connected".

IF you are still connected, all of that is true. But the vast majority of people are NOT connected. My points is simlpy this. If the people stop going to Vegas because of all of these changes, Vegas will have to make corrections. There are way too many hotels in Vegas today. With the advent of Casino's on Indian reservations, and now legalized sports wagering in some states (with more on the way), Vegas has lost a lot of it's drawing power. The wife and I basically get our trips comped, including plane fare, food, rooms, etc...but it is still a pain in the tail to go and really not worth it. I guess we are in the "been there, done that" syndrome, probably because of the number of times we have been there, which used to be 45-50 times a year.
