Maybe they don't want to admit they live in Vegas?
We used to vacation in Vegas twice or more a year and always rented a car and stayed for a full week. That was before 2001. :scared We absolutely LUVED that place. Not sure if it was before our last stay there or 2nd from last time we were there that we got up around 7 A.M. to make sure we'd get to McCarran by 10 for our return flight home. I turned on the TV and see an airplane hit a N.Y. skyscraper. DANG! What follows?... . You know, like no underwear left, only one prescription pill that I take left, socks, etc. Yeah, our vacation wasn't over for THREE more days - no plans in the sky, no music in the hotels, quiet, very subdued out there. That's understandable. OF COURSE, casinos stayed open.
Well, about 16 years later (2018) we decided to go back to our favorite vacation "paradise" - good ole '
Vegas, baby'.
What a flukin mistake that was!
Maybe it's endurable for folks who live there, but I know a LOT of tourists are disappointed these days. Surprise hefty daily resort fees even at downtown hotels, pay to park at strip hotels, exorbitant prices on EVERYthing, traffic galore (thank God we didn't rent a car this time), the rebuilt monster hotels the billionaire blood suckers built with a heavy doses of glitz and bling to attract the suckers which gets boring after a few days, OH.. and how about changing the rules of some games like no more 3x on the 12 in the field on craps, tightened slots, and how about the reduced payout in blackjack (not sure how many hotels enforce this one), and more? My vacation these days is going elsewhere or sitting at my desk with a pizza and drink of choice and betting with online books that offer MUCH more variety, choices, and opportunities playing sports than Vegas and they are available 24 hr. a day.
How bout getting around in that mess whether on foot or car? You see a hotel you'd like to visit across the strip and now you get out the binoculars to see where the next overpass is, which includes over 50 steps to climb when you get to it, to get across. It wasn't that way before. Walking from one of the monster hotels to the one "next door" is a mini field trip and when you do get to open the door of the place too often you got a football field length path through ripoff shops along with places like Dunkin Donuts, McDonalds, Starbucks along the way and get ripped off with Las Vegas adjusted prices. I think we musta walked about 5 miles that week.
I broke even on gambling mostly thanks to "bubble craps" and that's really a win after spending a week there. I was ahead close to $300 mid-week, but you know how gamblin goes, right?
Sorry if this belongs in a different forum but I put it here to help answer jungyardog's question. I don't have any questions about betting right now.
Have a good Sat. MJers.
