His text messages probably didn't help. Fox News basically had a guy spouting stuff on their network that he didn't believe, which wasn't a great look. Also, I just listened to a BBC broadcast that talked about how Tucker was airing doctored messages about the amount of Ukrainian casualties.

When Reagan got rid of the Fairness Doctrine, it paved the way for biased media. The current state was probably inevitable considering the FDs limited scope, but that move definitely greased the wheels.
