Like PAWA said last week, we should be used to it, but it looks another strange week ahead?

West Coast @ 1.60ish look reasonable value. They've bounced back from their previous losses with big home wins.
Freo haven't beaten anyone of note recently (Dogs and Melbourne were both seriously under-manned, Carlton, Collingwood, Richmond).
Eagles without Embly, Matera and ?? over Cox (who'd be a huge loss)...although a quick look at last time they met, neither Matera or Embly did much...and Stenglein didn't play. (might have just talked myself into it! :D)
They beat Freo by only 8 points in Rd. 3, but they were 8 points, so they really should have won by more.
Definately talked myself into it....If Cox is right to go, then West Coast @ 1.60 looks a good play to me.

Geelong @ 1.50? Can either side feild a team atm? No-one can remember the last time Melbourne won @ Geelong...was before 1990 anyway! Still, the Cats are hardly goiong like 1.50 favs atm. Will wait for final teams....

St. Kilda look a bit short @ 1.30, but should win I guess...Although Thompson/Rocca could have a big day without Hudgeton...esp. if Ackland doesn't get up.
Kangas won last meeting, but Saints had 56 inside 50's to 44, and Riewoldt and Kositzke were missing so it could be a different story this time around...Not sure I could take the -22.5 tho...

Collingwood/Carlton? Good Luck predicting a) who'll win, and b) who'll want to! :) Can't split them statistically...don't really want to try!

I do think Adelaide are good value @ 1.50. Port have the good head-to-head record, but the Crows are simply a much better team this year. Their total forward line melt-downs do continue to worry me, but they just shuold have so much more of the ball that it won't matter. Allowing an av. of 59 points a game at home, +15.4 inside 50's at home and thumped Port by 68 last meeting.

Can't really see Brisbane beating Sydney without Leppitch or Brown. Again, not sure if 1.50 is the best value for the Swans, but they do seem to be getting the job done.

Are the Hawks a chance? On the surface you'd think the Bombers were reasonably good things, but Everitt should have a field day in the ruck, and no Fletcher could be costly with Croad starting to play well as a forward. Essendon only won the last meeting by 2 points with Fletcher and Laycock in the side...I guess the odds are about right. I won't be touching it.

Doggies!!!...Well, tbh, 1.30 is a bit short I would have thought. Bit too much hype around about the Dogs atm. Sure, they're playing pretty well, but the reality is that this is 2 teams with the same amount of wins for the season, and Richmond won the first meeting.
-22.5 is probably the option, but tough to tke the Dogs as favs, given their poor defense and 'ability' to go an hour without scoring!

Well, as you can see, I was a bit bored...putting off going to the gym actually! :cursin:
Will definately be interested to hear what everyone else thinks about this w'end. :mj14:

A big read there Christo!!
Especially considering the time you are now no doubt spending on the upcoming NFL season!!

I've been home the last couple of days with a bad bug doing a bit of this > :mj02: and a bit of this > :flush:
So I haven't even thought about footy....though I think I'll still be spewing after the Saints get a hold of my Roos this weekend!!

bombers to bt hawks
- essendon coming off 8days break no travel but hawkes only a 7day break from 2wks away brisbane rd 19+ west coast at perth in round 18

?bombers have improved their form over the past few weeks - will thieir injuries be high? Hawkes also have key injuries - lean to bombers to win

bulldogs to bt tigers

bulldogs vs tigers - bulldogs 8day break no travel, richmond 8day break but travelled to perth..

bulldogs have improved their recent form.. bulldogs will be more confident than a richmond: lost to carlton 2wks ago, and have lost their last 3

not keen on the nth melb this week sorry to say

No standout plays for me this week but I do have slight leans on 7 games  so will play them each for 1 unit.

West Coast -7.5 vs Fremantle
Melbourne +17.5 vs Geelong
St Kilda -21.5 vs Kangaroos
Collingwood $2.00 vs Carlton
Port Adelaide +16.5 vs Adelaide
Brisbane +18.5 vs Sydney
Hawthorn +19.5 vs Essendon

In recent weeks there has been one book (won't name them as they don't advertise here) that fairly consistently offer lines a few points out from most other books.

Using this week as an example ....

West Coast -7.5 but are -10.5 and -11.5 elsewhere
St Kilda -21.5 but are -23.5 elsewhere
Essendon -14.5 but are -18.5 and -19.5 elsewhere

Nice Cartman!! I saw San Diego/Denver when they played the America Bowl in Sydney @ Stadium Australia (2000?). Wasn't the best venue, tbh, it was a bit big and too far away from the action.
Saw the Rose Bowl in San Diego tho in '95. Freezing cold night, but close enough to the cheer-leaders to keep the blood pumping! :D
Hope you have a great time over there.

I reckon I'll have as many as 9-10 plays this weekend. Maybe too many, but there's no better time in sports betting than NFL pre-season! :mj14:

A fourth straight week without any system plays! Hasn't been this dry for a few years historically. Well thats one way to save money!

Like the Coasters -7.5...Freo will feel the brunt of the Eagles loss to the Doggies last week. A goal isn't much to cover and as Christo pointed out....Freo havn't been really tested lately.

Saints will cover the -21.5 against my 'finals bound' Roos and I've got a horrible feeling it could get ugly!

A couple of multis and some $$$ on the All-Blacks along with some League and the NFL preseason should see me out for the weekend!! :sadwave:

Good luck gents

Going with 4 plays this weekend. Coasters -10.5, Essendon ML, Geelong ML, and the pies at $1.95.
Pitt/SD game should be a cracker cartman! Went and witnessed Houston take down the panthers a couple of years ago in the same season Carolina took the big one in late January. You'll have a blast mate! MNF game will be packed- not that there's too many available seats at any other game!
Any of you guys to been to Dalby in South west QLD? Been there for work the past few days and cannot EVER in my life remember seeing so many hillbilles with just a couple of teeth! Not even during my 5-year stint in Texas! Definitely a different world out there!

Well, well, well! Black decides to make an appearance in the 'Off the wall' forum for the first time this year! Only took ya 20 rounds mate! Where have you been other than heavily under the thumb? Just saw that you have 'snap hook' under your name also black! LMAO!
Paw, I'm sure there's a few places down there in Tassie that offer 'front porch banjo expeditions'. Can you verify that for us Christo?

I think Christo could name a few towns down south where they sit on the front porch playin' the banjo!!!

Strangely enough, things are fairly banjo free down here in the deep south, boys!

Fairly boring lot we all are. Not exactly cutting edge, but not quite to the hick stage either....apart from a few with their cowboy hats and utes plastered in R.M. Williams and bundy stickers who think life is one big rodeo! (And no, I'm not one of those! :scared )

Besides, what's wrong with going out and seeing the same old people every weekend?? Someone's gunna take advantage of my drunk sister, so it may as well be me. ;)

Wow! Did I just read that right?? Sounds like a Jerry Springer episode Christo!
Cats gag it off and continue the slide and in the process cost me my ML. Pissed, but an awesome finish to the game! Last time i saw a game decided after the siren aside from the bris/swans game earlier this year was....96'. Brought back some ordinary memories for me today.

Easy mate....Just for the record I'm an only child ;)

After all that, I ended up taking a Crows/Sydney double @ 2.10ish.

Should have got on the Doggies @ -20.5, but 23.5 and rising is a bit steep.

Got a nasty feeling that 1 single point will cost me 8 winners this week. :cursin:

(Actually, given the 'luck' I had in the NFL today, anything is possible!!...Brisbane could win on a forfeit the way I'm travelling. :()

This is the most excited I've ever been I reckon!!!

That was a great game for us. Playing badly and challenged, only to have a quarter FULL of gutsy efforts and tremendous poise by our young guys.

Now I know how PAWA feels every week!!...Although I'm not sure how you handle it mate, I'd be an alcoholic!! (Well, more than I am now!)

And, I tell you what....This race isn't over yet! I'd expect Sydney to knock the Kanga's off next week....You wouldn't want to lose that last game to Carlton, PAWA...They're playing pretty well....

(Can't believe I didn't back the Hawks today...No offense bomber. I did tip them, but didn't take them +20?? wtf??...And, yep, missed 8 by a point!)

PS. Hopefully that Melbourne win will boost public confidence in them...If it's a fine day next week the Bulldogs will smash them....Could we get as high as 1.60?? God I hope!!)

Sorry...I'll shut up now! Bit pumped!! Need another Rum and coke can anyway............;)

WOOF WOOF!! lol!!!

Yeah Christo.....a great effort from your Bulldogs to climb out of that hole in the 3rd quarter. I still think you'll drop one of the last two and miss the cut. It's not like they could win the last six straight and scrape in!!....could they??!!.....nah!

I'm happy that my Roos didn't get smashed after all. We'll take some confidence into the finals after this weekend. With Colbert a late withdrawal, I think we held the big Saint forwards pretty well in the second half.

And thanx Bomber for your piss-weak mo-fo footy team costing me a 9/1 six team multi.......F-A-R-K!!! :cursin:

Sorry mate! Pitiful effort today by the boys. Didn't want to know the score of the game so that I could watch it tonight on Fox Footy.....well, until one of my mates sent me a message while I was on the golf course reading "up the mighty Hawks"! Headless! My great tipping form continued this week also- 1-3. Can't even hit ML's these days. Phuck it, NFL and college around the corner!
Nice to see your dogs making a go of this little comp we have christo. If only I could see paw's face if they were to scrape in to the finals in front of the roos! Priceless!
