I would have liked to have seen O and our commanders get their wish and keep a small presence (2,000 to 5,000) troops there.

However not unless Iraq gave them immunity--which they refused--giving us no choice.

Is nice to put this one in the victory column and behind us.

Wasn't that long ago some were wanting to retreat and surrender--

--ya think O will mention any of that in coming days and give credit to those that deserve it? :SIB

You're an embarrassment to conservatives everywhere.

Victory?

Tell me what was worth the 4500 American lives, the $3 Trillion we spent and the countless Iraqi lives that were lost in what Sponge appropriately called an "abortion" of a war.

No - it wasn't that long ago that you and others were saying the plan to get the troops out of Iraq - REALLY doing it, not just giving it lip service - was retreating and surrendering. Now, when Obama follows through with what he said he was going to do - and you and others ridiculed him for it - you and others are calling it a victory.

Amazing how perspective changes. Sad, but amazing. To your question - I thought Obama did give credit to those that deserve it in his address today - and did it very well. So, as always, not sure what you are asking for (other than somehow probably giving Bush and conservatives some kind of credit for some kind of something or other), but IMO you should have already gotten it. If not, listen to his address. Maybe it wasn't convoluted enough for some?

How long will it be after Dec that we read about Al Sadr being back in the Iraq picture.

I think he will quickly move to take over and cut off a few heads .

He still has a army of nutcakes behind him.

Another Iran in Iraq soon

Yeh nice victory DTBlackgumby

Chad I need some links please

1st I can't find any mention of him giving credit to prior admin for winning this war--nor any mention of he/his admin trying to retreat and being against the surge-
Link Please

2nd On his promise to follow through--The war was won "forunately" by time he entered picture. He tried to keep troops there past deadline (which I applaud) but fact that Iraq refused to give our troops immunity is only reason timetable (promise) will happen to be same.

Imagine if you would what middle east would look like today--had we ran/retreated like O/dems wanted.

The fact is -history is already written on Iraq war--you can't change it regardless of how much you try or would like to.

on the amazing how persectives change--I will agree to the nth degree--

Your rant about GW for years being a cowboy--wanting to try him for war crimes--

then you vote in O as the "peace maker" and he immediately flops to Bush Light once in office escalating wars/starting new ones-assassinating people

--and your doing the ole--
Ace%20Dance.gif

I agree utterly amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ooops almost forgot--
http://usiraq.procon.org/sourcefiles/SOFA-11-19-08.pdf

Read page 15 of pact signed by GW admin and Iraq if you really want to know who is responsible for troops leaving by Dec 2011 despite Gumby trying to rewrite history and take credit for it.

"the Kids" should know the truth! :)

The same as it looks now

Except

Bin Laden is dead

Kadaffi is dead

Al Jerawi is dead

Egypt has a chance

Libya better off now

Isreal is better off in the long run.

Syriua shiting their pants as they know they are next.

When a President gets into office things change.

its amazing that aspiring Presidents say they will do this and that on foreign policy , but the fact is they have no clue what all the intelligence reports tell them.

Nothing is as it seems if you dont have the facts.

Even Ron Paul would probably keep us in Afghanstan once he knew what was going on.

One occupation down, but more to go. I am proud of our troops for a job well done. I continue to be grateful for their service and am hopeful that the coming year shows a drastic reduction in what i feel to be unnecessary loss of life within the ranks of our armed forces.

As Ron Paul said in the last debate

what about the 160 bases America maintains in so may countrys for the power of the strike.

We pay Billions for that every year.

Knock that down by half

Start charging these countrys for protection.

We have to pay you ? Uh yu will have to leave. We will handle it ourselves. Good . If you get invaded maybe we will make a appearance.

We can get anywhere we need to in plenty of time.

Its crazy to keep this war mongering going any longer .

Truly bring the troops home and put them on the borders . Protect Americe with drones and troops ready to engage terrorism.

The military of the United States is deployed in more than 150[1] countries around the world, with more than 369,000 of its 1,580,255[2] active-duty personnel serving outside the United States and its territories. Most of these overseas personnel are deployed in combat zones in the Middle east, as part of the "War on Terror". Many of the remainder are located at installations activated during the Cold War, by which the US government sought to counter the Soviet Union in the aftermath of World War II.

U.S. personnel are seeing active combat in several countries, most notably Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya. Others are deployed as part of several "peacekeeping" missions.

The following are countries, listed by region, in which U.S. military personnel are deployed. Many of the numbers are based on Department of Defense statistics from December 2010.[3] These numbers do not include any military or civilian contractors, nor dependents. Countries with fewer than 25 U.S. personnel deployed are omitted
