Anders' Polyester Man Season Experiment

'bout time I shared this with you guys.
It came about from a couple of things.
Last year I tried capping bases myself and was a real flop. Didn't know how, didn't dedicate the time needed etc...
If you'd faded my plays you would have made some nice cash (small lightbulb goes on in dim recess of upstairs attic).
I decided to skip MLB this season and concentrate on sports I knew. Then I read Nolan's piece on the Polyester Man and the bulb burned a little brighter.
Why not fade Mr Public's plays? And who better to play Mr Polyester than me. I'd learnt enough about the game to be dangerous.
So I proceded to pick every game, based on 5 mins study of pitching line-ups, form etc. Went for almost every piece of chalk there was, unders for Maddux, Unit, Schilling, Pedro etc...
Then played the exact opposite.
Well, it's someway into the season now and here's what's happened...

Season to Date: 380-391-9 +40.92 units

A useful little earner I'd say.
So I'm going to keep track of this here (has been monitored elsewhere) for all interested parties to look at.
Keen on getting lots of feedback.
Coupl eof points _ I began playing these at a lower rate for the "one unit" play than I do in other sports. Now I'm not far off making them the full quid.
Secondly, I spread them round a few books to help avoid going broke at one book if I have a 8-20 day (has happened!) and then having to transfer funds.

Here's what I'm on today:

Expos +127
o7.5 -109
Phillies +134
o8 +120
Marlins +125
u8 +110
Brewers +107
o8 -118

just HAD to open your mouth, huh :D

that's how it works for me anyhow (open my big mouth and the opposite happens). why does that always happen? :)

i'm curious to how this works out for you. i've often considered playing a system much like this one, but for football.

there's got to be a way to trim down the amount of games too, because no way can i afford to play that many. know what i mean? and, i think it's hard to be consistant with your selections day after day.

your post here has me thinking about it again and i'm gonna watch and figure out an angle along with you. should be fun. maybe i'll start playing for real after the all star braek if the results are good. i think it will work!

see what happens.

thanks

Jack ... LMFAO :D

Yup, knew that would happen ...

Didn't play Fri (NZ time); had a day off but playing the system again tomorrow...

I actually plan to play all the games; side and total; on every day i get to play (usually 4 or 5 days a week).

Why? Well, one of the most-quoted piece of sports betting advice is not too play too many games. Hence, I'm trying to do everything as bad as possible - and then fade..

ok, makes sense. i guess i can always lower the amount i play per game.

i really believe money can be made this way.

you ever use a concensus to fade? i always liked bigguy for that. works like a charm with college hoops and football. just fade the majority. "the lazy man's handicapping system" :D

Quick question...

Quick question...

Are the picks you're posting the plays we are supposed to go against or are they the actual plays? Thanks for sharing, good luck.

Why not? A friend of mind has made money for years fading college kids. I noticed Bos is a play. You might be interested in my post today. Good luck

The down under Kiwi friend has spoken.

It is a bitch to starta new thread on a new topic, and flame out first time out of the box. It happens to me every time Ian!

Continue posting, always welcome your insight. Besides, you are going to have to put up with me when I visit this winter, er....your summer.

:) ;)

RRC - good question, sorry, should have clarified that..

What I post is what I'm playing - mark picks on a printout and then back the other side (and total).

Just got in from playing soccer and had to do a radio show, was trying to track my wagers while being interviewed ...

"sorry, what did us ask me?? " :D

Looks like being a reasonable day...

Have to go and cover the NBL tonite, will be back in the office to finalise and play Sun's games (NZ time)

Fading system

Fading system

Hey Anders, I post very little but am on the sight everyday. I was wondering, if you are indeed fading yourself. (playing the opposite of what you briefly handicap every day and your record is 417-433-12. If you just played what you like wouldn't your record be winning at 433-417-12. Just curious or did I misunderstand the system.

Nostromo - that's right :D Acting as Joe Public, I see Big Unit v Brown and I think "Man, that's gotta be about 6 hits total right?? The game's gott go under easy!!"

Hence, 2 units on the under. Then fade :)

Quantum Leap: Yep, that's right - but I'd be way down because they would have been 98% chalk plays. This system rewards backing almost exclusively dogs.
