absolutely no offense taken dawgball, i'm in line with most of your post. just wanted to point out that some forms of hunting that seem "fairer" also increase the number of cripples left in the woods to die slowly and purposelessly.

i don't hunt but have nothing against it either, IF they play by the rules. i think if you shoot and kill a deer, you should eat the damn thing or give it to someone that WILL eat it.

another thing that pisses me off are the guys that kill more than they're allowed. we have a 2 deer limit up here and i know people that brag about the 10 and 12 that they killed. why do some think the rules don't apply to them? if everybody did what they did, there would ne nothing left to hunt.

then, we always have the real idiots that come up here, drink all night long, THEN go out to hunt. WTF is that!?! kinda dangerous for the ones out there that are following the rules, dontcha think?

every year, during deer season, we have many, many injuries and deaths, mostly because of the idiots out there that are trigger happy. HOW IN THE HELL, with the powerful scopes they use, can someone mistake a human being for a deer? that's always the excuse though.

alcohol and guns don't mix period...if there is not a ban on it on hunting grounds...or anywhere for that matter...then there should be...anyone who shoots someone "by accident" should have their rights to own a gun taken away for life...after a good year or two in prison to think about it...

about the animal rights issue...to me, personally, animals don't have "rights" period...whether you should treat an animal with respect, love, etc. or whatever...is your own choosing and decision...just do it to your own animals and not mine...people have different childhoods and upbringing...these contribute to the way they live their lives and treat animals and human beings alike...sometimes an animal will make you learn or see something in life that you normally wouldn't appreciate...it's been proven that pets in retirement homes and hospitals for children have given new life and enjoyment to those suffering or needing a lift...

as far as research on animals...plain and simply, this world would not have the medicines and treatment for all kinds of diseases that have saved millions of lives if it were not for testing done on certain animals...I don't see anything wrong with animals being used for scientific/clinical research as long as it's in a controlled environment and the research is for humanity's sake...the movie "Hallow Man" was an interesting example on animals being used for research...although the "research" in this movie was highly questionable...as long as they don't start taking family pets into the lab then it's perfectly alright in my eyes...

I used to love to hunt! Then I went a hunting trip with Bob Knight! I don't hunt anymore.
