I'm very impressed. One of her downfalls will be what caused her bogey on her 18th hole. She had to hit a longer iron into the green and couldn't hold the ball. Because it was off the green, she was unable to clean the mud off which effected her putt (leaving it 6 feet past the hole). She missed the come-backer to finish over par.

Overall, she played an excellent round!

about making the tour, a few years back, i formed a partnership with four of my friends and we sponsored about seven or eight young pros over about a period of severql years in their efforts to make the pga tour. we paid their expenses to play on the hooters tour and what was then the nike tour. some of these kids were ungodly good. i took my favorite player to my home club once to play our donald ross designed course. first time the kid ever tees it up, he shoots a 63 and sets the course record. the kid had natural talent from here to timbuktu, but he never made it off the hooters tour. bottom line is, there are thousands of young bucks out there that can play just as good tee to green as anyone but the top 50 or so on the pga tour. what seperates the players from the also-rans is what they do around the greens and with the flat stick. the short game is where the money is.

My buddy, Jace Bugg, was fortunate enough to find some sponsors like yourself to shell up money for him while he played on the Teardrop Tour, then the Hooters, then the Canadian, then he finally made the Buy.com by winning a qualifier and then winning the tournament.

Later in the season, he is diagnosed with Leukemia. He is now in Houston waiting on his blood transfusion, but everything is looking really good for him. He has a donor.

He says it really puts everything in perspective. On his way to really making it, and then faces the toughest task of his life. He and his wife lived in an RV for 2-3 years travelling around from tournament to tournament trying to make it.

If think if you are interested in golf and have the capital, then sponsoring a youngster that can't finance it otherwise is an awesome thing to do.

Hope everything turns out well for Jace.

I totally agree on the sponsorship thing. It can really help young golfers who cannot afford to travel to all of the tournaments they need to play in to qualify for their respective tours.

.................................

This reminds me of a golfing joke.

This guy has a gorilla and he has him at the driving range taking bets on long balls. After making some wagers he has the gorillia step up and the gorilla hits the ball 400 yards. After he does that and wins the money several times, this fellow standing nearby says ...

Damn that gorilla is good. He could make the tour hitting like that.
How does the gorilla putt ?

The guy says ......The same fawking way as he drives.

what?? did you see her relief after the first tee shot and the first hole?

and her elation after her first birdie?

This girl IS feeling the pressure BUT she is a gamer and plays well under it....

Yeah......I saw her, "Relief" after the tee shot. I'm sure all she was thinking was, "Don't make a fool of yourself", until she hit that shot. (Who wouldn't?) That would fall under nerves....not pressure. Maybe your zen-like understanding of the game precluded you from seeing that a lot of that reaction was a little tongue in cheek/playing to the crowd?

Tiger Woods seems 'elated' after every big put he makes, too. I guess he must still be under tremendous pressure, huh? She hit 13/14 fairways, and was putting for a birdie on every hole. She was never in a bunker, either. This 'girl' is NOT feeling pressure! She may have a case of nerves, but that is to be expected.

I wish the young lady could putt, but that is something she will have to deal with.

I also love the crack about 'perfect conditions'. Someone always has to find an excuse when something turns out different than they projected. I was telling my friends at the course that there would be several people chiming in on that.

She is better than most guys gave her credit, and she could make a living on this tour, no doubt. (Not a good living, but a living.)

She knows her game, and played it to perfection yesterday. People under pressure can't do that.

To say anything else illustrates how you misunderstand the game of golf.
