First of all when the fk did all you men start loving mother in laws. Wtf is that all about?

And again Moats didnt go running into the hospital. He sauntered as if eating a hot dog.

The black and white thing (racism) is getting old and abused. So lets drop that crap.

The cop was a dick but he also was doing his job. After the fact we can attack him and say well he should have let them all run into the hospital.

Most cases like this involve laws being broken and what cop would be stupid enough to risk his life by saying 'hey I trust you' to every Tom Dick and Jack
It wasn't about his MIL, it was about his wife's feelings. sheese!

Yes, the cop DID his job and wasn't going to arrest the guy so he could of been more compassionate and let the guy go in to be with his wife

Instead, he made the guy wait. "The guy" :mj07:

while he took his good old time writing the ticket and making sure everybody knew who 'THE BOSS' IS!

PRICK!

Jack- are you watching ' young and the restless' right now?

And when did we start caring about wives feelings, WTF

Im just breaking balls.

Funny I was just thinking. 20 yrs ago right about this time I would be dancing up a storm at RPM's in Toronto. My fave dance move was the hulk hogan. Basically slowly ripping my tank top off for the broads.

I remember when I was 19 and stupid. I bought a $100 armani tank top , wore it the same night and did the old hulk. I started half crying when I realized what I was ripping. What a great memory, Id pay $1000 for that exact tank top. Man Im gonna cry, kick serve hold me gently

Again.....all this "dead MIL shit", is after-the-fact. You boys are too emotional about that fact. He has too work with what he has at hand:

Running lights and signs.
Failing to stop for a persuing police car.
Jumping out of the car.

It's not like anyone in the car was bleeding, having a baby, etc.

He couldn't look at the situation and go, "Oh, I see what you guys are doing!"

Could he have dismissed everything once it was determined? No doubt. But to the ones who say he shouldn't have "bothered" them at all? That's just nuts.

All I'm saying is that the cop DRAGGED it out when he could have been a little more slack.

He just didn't like the attitude of 'what's his name' and wanted to make sure everybody knew who was the boss.

I don't really care and don't know why I got involved in the thread.

Not trying to speak for anyone, but I think the problem some have is when the generalizations occur. Most cops are not bad and provide a dangerous service for little pay. The funniest part of this thread to me is that we are usually generalizing "overpaid, pampered, athletes".
BTW this cop was a douche:mad:

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
I've gone on rides with my brother-in-law, a cop in Oregon. You wouldn't believe the pricks he has to deal with, the crap that goes with that thankless job. Unbelievable how anyone can still act professional after years of working as cop.

and cops around country on edge now due to cops that got murdered during traffic stop in Orange County last week, as weasel mentions. You've probably forgotten that, but believe me, every cop pulling over someone this week hasn't. Particularily when big guy leaps out after you finally stop them!

Lotta cops are dicks, but most aren't. My bro-in-law finally made detective last year and thus has saner job that will take much longer to get burned out at.

but when he pulled over a guy in obvious hurry, let alone when stops in hospital lot, he asks them if they are in a hurry for something. Most cops do this, because they understand and have some compassion and experiece.

This young cop in Plano is clearly missing some of those attributes.

Cop in Plano might have reason to believe violators he pulled over had made-up "tales of woe".

But the nurses at the hospital informed the cop that dudes story was true. Plus, an older cop showed up on scene and counselled young cop to ease up--which he didn't after these two additonal bits of info.

That is main reason he is a prick! After hospital staff informed him of truth, being a prick is the only explanation left.

My brother-in-law thinks so, and so do most good cops out there.

and race comes into this, especially in a place like Plano, because, well, it belongs. Folks who don't grasp that need a rant from bryanz right now!

Damn near like talking death penalty and abortion in this thread.

Unfortunately I've been in a similiar situation but did do a couple of things differently that made my experience nothing like the one Moats went through.

I was on the Interstate doing 90ish with about 10 miles to go. Emergency hazard lights were on as this was an emergency. I passed a cop, got into his lane, and tapped my breaks 3 times. I had my wife call 911 to let her know the situation and asked the women to call dispatch to give them our situation. I pulled to the side of the road, rolled down all 4 windows, turned on the interior lights and put both of my hands flat against the steering wheel.

The officer asked me if we had called 911 (We should have given the car information when we called) He then lead us the rest of the way to the hospital.

Moats could have done things differently but he had his hazard lights on and drove directly to the hospital.

The police chief called a press conference and apologized for the officers behavior so the debate on whether it was too much or not is pretty much over.

I can't believe this cop resigned. I know a person who had severed his finger in a lawnmower accident. He was being raced to the hospital by his brother at about 90 mph and got pulled over. But they PULLED OVER. And explained the situation and went on there way. To totally disregard the police and then wonder why the cop got rude with you is a joke.

I think I don't care if someone "thinks" they were treated poorly by the "po-po".

Hey....the guy quit! Now, he can be an unemployed, police hating, scumbag, like you.

i tend to agree with you yyz but the cop used poor judgment....since he stopped moats in the hospital parking lot, the cop should have escorted moats into the hospital to verify moats' story....
