More restrictions on gun ownership = less gun crime. Period

Every time I hear someone say this I just have to laugh. If you honestly think restricting gun ownership will produce less gun crime, I'd like to hear a detailed explanation as to how this would work? I'm not going into a big pissing match about it but I'll give a simple analogy. Illegal drugs are well....illegal. So why are they everyfuckingwhere? Just like guns. If they "restrict" them, they will still be everyfuckingwhere and easily obtainable to the low lifes that misuse them. All a gun ban (or restriction as you say) will do is take them away from responsible citizens and the criminals will still be at full power.
I have yet to hear a reasonable explanation as to how it would work that will do a damn bit of good for this country.

Sprint,
Your analogy lacks merit. Drug use is a choice made by the individual. Getting shot to death by a14 year old isn't.
There are responsible drug users as well. I hear the same ridiculous statement every time this comes up, "responsible gun owners". There is no such thing. There are those that obey the law yes. Unfortunately all those responsible owners aren't and won't do anything to ebb gun violence. There has been generation upon generation of responsible gun owners to date, yet gun violence is still an issue. By that truth alone, there is no such thing as a responsible gun owner. You may disagree all you want but the numbers don't support your argument, only mine. Australia disarmed and violence went down. It's as simple as that.

Lacks merit? How can you call an illegal drug user responsible? If you are saying people use drugs frequently and don't hurt or kill themselves and call that responsible I see your point (and don't agree with it). Saying there are no responsible gun owners is ridiculous. C'mon man, that's just unfair to the 99% people that do own and responsibly handle/use firearms. I personally don't know anyone who lost their lives from a gun crime.....ever. I do however remember many people locally who died from drug use. In fact, a kid that used to work for me is dead from a heroin overdose. How many people die in America every day from illegal drug use versus gun crime? If every drug death in the states was in your morning paper you wouldn't even have time to read it before the next issue came out the next morning. I think gun crime has always been a problem, you just never heard it broadcasted years back like it is today. You can thank social media for that. You can't take rights away from 250+ million people for something far less than 1% abuse.

You are living in some sort of alternate universe. Australia and England, both English speaking, majority white, with significant numbers of racial minorities have gun crime rates which are 1/10th of ours.

So, you tell us, O-genius, why is their gun crime so much lower.............?

Waiting....waiting...waiting.

Gun control laws.

That's easy to answer. They have far less idiots. Not sure why you had to add the "majority white" in there but whatever. I'm sure they have far less people running around with video cameras provoking the police too.

See hedge, you could gave simply made a point by posting a well thought out response. Instead you throw in this I think abortion is great shit. I don't think the procedure is great at all but I also don't think I have the right to tell someone else what to do with their fucking body.

Dog owners, such as myself, that have had "pitties" all their life and have never had an incident are responsible. If my dog attacked someone for no reason, I'd absolutely take responsibility for it

Australia and England have fewer idiots? You're right. They don't have you.
