It sounds like the Republicans plan on doing everything they can to postpone an appointment until Obama is out of office. Once again, the Republicans are trying to hold this country back. What's it say in our club bylaws about how this gets handled, you know, the Constitution? Isn't that the document the GOP says Obama shits on? I guess it is okay to ignore it when your desires aren't in line with it.

McConnell says we need to wait to hear the voice of the American people before letting a President appoint the replacement. Am I wrong, or did that voice get heard in 2008 and 2012 when the people elected President Obama?

What a bunch of hypocrite pussies. Good luck with your nominee. Last night's debate was a shit show.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is threatening to filibuster any Supreme Court nominee made by President Obama to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

?This should be a decision for the people,? Cruz said on ABC?s ?This Week With George Stephanopoulos? on Sunday. ?Let the election decide. If the Democrats want to replace [Scalia], they need to win the election. But I don?t think the American people want a court that will strip our religious liberties. I don?t think the American people want a court that will mandate unlimited abortions on demand, partial-birth abortion with taxpayer funding and no parental notification, and I don?t think the American people want a court that will write the Second Amendment out of the Constitution.?

"Let the election decide"? Is that what the Constitution says? FUUUUUCCCKKKKK YOOOOOUUUUUU Cruz. How can anyone think this guy is capable of leading this country? You don't lead by inaction.

Who wins the election isn't the point. The point is that the Constitution says the President makes the appointment, and that is Obama. Can you imagine how this would be going if the tables were turned? They'd be pointing to the Constitution and how the Dems were shitting on it. This is a GREAT opportunity for the Dems to show what Cruz and the GOP really stand for......themselves.

President George W. Bush withdrew his nomination of Harriet Miers shortly after an awkward dispute she had with Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, then the Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. At issue was what she had said during their private talk about the right to privacy, an underpinning of the high court's 1973 Roe v. Wade decision establishing abortion rights.[16]

Bush stated that Miers asked to withdraw her nomination on October 27, 2005, and he acceded to her wishes.[42] The narrative where Miers jumped rather than being pushed was accepted at first, but has since been challenged. Most prominently, Jan Crawford Greenburg reported that Miers' abysmal performance in murder boards before the hearings made clear to White House Chief of Staff Andy Card and Deputy White House Counsel William K. Kelley that the game was up, at which point, they demanded Miers withdraw. After initial resistance, she acquiesced.[43]

Bush and Miers attributed her withdrawal to requests from the Judiciary Committee for the release of internal White House documents that the administration had insisted were protected by executive privilege. Both Republican and Democratic senators denied that they were attempting to obtain privileged documents.[44] Most observers instead believed this rationale was a way for the Bush administration to pull her nomination and still "save face," by avoiding a direct acknowledgment of the lack of support for her nomination. The claim of executive privilege had been publicly recommended as an "exit strategy" by commentators such as Charles Krauthammer,[45] and reports indicated that White House advisors had considered that as a tactic.[46]

Samuel Alito, a federal judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, was nominated four days after her withdrawal and subsequently confirmed.

so true

I always agree with your logic

its about rightness and morality.

Obama just needs to pick someone that is close to what both partys want in there., Then if they turn it down they will look like total fools on the eve of the election in Nov 2016

The constitution also says the appointment has to be confirmed by the United States Senate. Also part of the process. Control GOP. Hopefully they have a backbone. That would be in question.

No shit. Nobody is saying they won't confirm a specific appointment, they are saying we won't even consider an Obama appointment. Unconstitutional behavior. This will hopefully be the nail in the coffin of this dying party.

Bernie wins, appoints Hillary. or

Hillary wins, appoints Bill.

Meanwhile the Republicans don't realize the election is over, debate in Gaffney, SC.

The first question is from the audience: "Hey, Mr. Trump, if you deport all the illegals, who's going to pick all our peaches?"

"Don't worry", says the Donald. "There are a couple of Spics right on this stage who are going to be unemployed when I win."

Cruz runs over and punches Trump in the mouth, Carson administers first aid, but finds Trump's injury more serious than expected. He whips out his Swiss Army knife and removes half of Trump's brain, which he drops in a baggie and puts in his pocket.

"Two aspirin and a good night's sleep, he'll be good as new." Says Carson.

Rubio faints at the sight of blood.

Cruz complains to the moderators that Trump attacked him and bit his hand.

Kasich and Bush order pizza from Rubio's fathers' bodega. The delivery boy spits on it before he delivers.

Kasich and Bush think they're eating oyster pizza.

July 2007 before Bush's term ended Chuck Schumer ( soon to be heir to Reid's position ) is quoted in a speech saying that Dems should stop Bush from appointing any new SOTUS member during his last 18 months of office.
Obama can nominate anyone he wants. Good luck getting them approved.
Dems are about to get "Borked" and there is nothing they can do about it.

Chuck Schumer says they shouldn't confirm a Bush appointment unless there is a special circumstance. Little different conversation than the Republican leadership, no?

The 1960 Democratic led Congess passed a resolution that no SCOTUS nominee should be appointed in an election year.
Obama will be "Borked".
