all of a sudden i have "ANTS"

not the typical little critters that raid the picnic basket. these guys are BIG....i guess 'carpenter ants'?

how do i rid myself of these pests?

Big ants medium size ants and those small red fire ants down this way. If it has been really warm and dry in your area, they are going inside to get away from the heat and to find water, not looking to raid the frig and carry out a ham. Have to treat inside the house and outside at the same time, catch 'em in the middle.

Jack Had problems with ants in garage because of cat food there.
Asked extermitaor that is client of mine and he gave me little square discs that have poison peanut butter inside.Very sturdy with very small opening so no risk to animals eating by mistake.
If you like I'll get some and forward them to you.
--- also had problem with em in glassed in porch,climbing up in bird cage and eating their food. This cage is huge for large birds and stands on the floor. I solved this prob by setting the four legs of cage in plastic containers filled with water. There were thousands of dead ants in water next day and no prob since.
The little SOB's can't swim.

I was told by Terminex that you have to get rid of the nest/hill before your problems are over. Those little suckers will just keep coming! We had a problem for over a year. We eliminated 12 ant hills before it was all said and done!

Jack, call an exterminator and they'll take careof your problem in no time flat. The more trees you have around the MANSION , the more likely you'll have carpenter ants. A small price to pay for prosperity.

Been there done that. Any local hardware/department store can help you out (ants are easy to get rid of). Any of the shelf brand of ant poison will do fine, it comes in a powder form and you need a 2-3 foot barrier the whole way around your house, problen will be solved. The white powder dissapears after the first decent rain and the ants are gone for good. We had a bad problem with them 2 years ago and an exterminater gave me this advise, no ants near the house since then.

Jack, good old fashioned BORAX, spread the powder around the outside foundation of your house, powder eventually goes away after some rain, also get a bottle of peppermint extract and mix with water in a spray bottle and spray the inside cabinets and closets of your house, ants hate peppermint, try this before you get locked into a terminex contract. you may also get some of the sprays in the market also very effective, hope this helps, it worked for me.

Bobmac is right. I did the EXACT same thing and it worked for me too. Little freakin' bastards. Trying to keep ants from taking over my house is almost as hard as keeping my ex wife from doing the same. But thank God there's only one of her!!!!!

Don't laugh but every time except one that I have used bathroom foam cleaner to stop ants from invading a certain area it has worked. Have to let it sit though. Guess they don't like that either.

i took the lazy man's way out and signed up with terminex. 23 bucks a month and they'll take care of all pests except termites and some kind of beetle. they make one routine visit every month but will come immediately if i have something that needs attention.

how in the hell do they make any money????? christ.....the guy that comes out has to be paid more than $23 for his visit, don't you think?

that's an easy one, Jack........ they deliver some termites and beetles from their last stop when they come to your house....then they have you for $523 a month
