Oh well if 99% survive, then I guess there's nothing to worry about. Only 3 million dead in the US - no big deal.

If 1% of planes crashed - would you get on a plane? Actually, it doesn't matter - there would be no commercial airlines.

Yeah, all those people with compromised immune systems should just "get control of their health" already. All of those over 70 should learn not to be so old. And what's with all these unemployment checks going out? I mean, I'm personally still employed so clearly I shouldn't care about anyone who is out of work. And while we're at it, my car and house are both totally fine right now so I'm cancelling my auto and home insurance. And since my house isn't currently on fire, let's get rid of the fire department. Total waste of money. Dr Feelgood has convinced me - all my decisions will now be made based only on how they impact me at only this point in time. Doing what you can for the sake of the vulnerable? Pfft, sounds like a bunch of commie talk to me.

Well I was just going for sarcastic but if I landed on bitter so be it.

I see. I would say Dr. Feelgood is having a good time. That's better than most people can say right now. Good for him.

I know we all hope that things improve....but when it does, I think we will all have a deeper appreciation for being able to be out and having a good time. Maybe that is a good thing. I don't know.

I agree - good for him. I have no issue with any of the things he's done/doing. I have no way of knowing whether he's doing things in a responsible way or not and it isn't really any of my business anyway.

What I was responding to was the suggestion that people who are altering their lives right now are fools, and the implication that if you end up very ill from this that it's your own fault for not taking better care of yourself.

But I also acknowledge that the entire premise of this thread is somewhat reactionary the other way - acting like Vegas is some kind of dystopian hellscape, so I can appreciate him defending his town.

Now, if you are asking if I am bitter that he is out doing things? Not at all. The family and I have been plenty busy this summer. We're fortunate to live in a beautiful part of the country with lots of amazing geography within a couple hours drive. Been to 4 national parks (Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, Arches, and Canyonlands) so far, gone on amazing hikes, seen beautiful sunsets, and more stars than in the rest of my life combined. Which is not a whole lot different than any other summer. Only difference is now we wear a mask in crowded areas, and we bring our own food instead of visiting local restaurants. That's our comfort level. Everyone's is different. It doesn't make you brave if you're comfortable with more risk and it doesn't make you a pussy if you're comfortable with less.

Good to hear. These are strange times.

He's living the life, I see it going on daily. Cheers Scott!

I'm waiting for Vegas to get back close to normal. Even you said it sucks right now. Also, not too comfortable about taking a 4 hour flight just yet either. Vegas just not a priority for us right now at all.

Don't recall advocating for anything to cease. Cool straw man - though it's a pretty inept comparison. I can't give heart disease to my neighbor no matter how many quarter pound double stacks I eat.

He said 99% recover - his stats, not mine. That means 1% don't. I was pointing out that "just" 1% is still a really large number when applied to large populations.
