trying to 'donate' my broken riding lawnmower...

figured it would be easy!!!

Salvation Army...won't take it:eek:   b/c it doesn' t work...what the fawk...figured they would want to fix it up and sell it...

Am Vets..NOONE answers phone # on national website..

anyone have any other ideas of who would come pick it up...

could probably sell it for parts for 100.00 on craigslist, but would rather it go to an organization...

sheesh....

got in touch with AmVets here in Memphis..

and I quote''If it don't work, we can't take it"

then she asks me if I would like to make a CASH donation to support the vets..

I told her that was my intention. fix the lawnmower and sell it....

WOW...times must be good for charities...

lawtchan check your warranties..

should be separate for body and engine..

I would think the Kohler Hyrdro would be 4 year manufacuture warr.

3 year bumper to bumper on the Cadet

no experience w/CADETS so can't tell ya much..

except...PM..PM..PM..PM

if ya don't know

ya may know all this stuff already

get ya the mulching kit..

comes w/blades

get this inexpensive sander mentioned below

get ya 50 grit Sanding belts from Lowes

Gator Grit {No. 3212}
3 belts to a pack.
http://www.gatorgrit.com/products/18/

Sanding Belts

1" x 30" Aluminum Oxide Sanding Belt

Bi-Directional Aluminum Oxide Belt for use on wood, metal, fiberglass, and painted surfaces.

1 belt wiill last you at least 6 uses

Lowes can order them for ya at no extra charge if they do not have them in stock..

Same set-up I use to sharpen all my blades and hand tools.

spare blades always sharpened means a healthier lawn and over years a longer lasting mower..

if ya decide to do this let me know I will teach ya how to remove the top plastic and sharpen blades just like they do at the shops..

get it sharp enough to take your fingers off.

they already sewed a tip back on for me:142smilie

I would be willing to bet that Jack has never sharpened a lawnmower blade in his life.

or even had it done. :SIB :mj07:

You are correct, sir, but that is going to change.

OS, I'll be getting that sander next week and will be contacting you if I have trouble using it.

All I bought for my new mower was the mulch cover but I suspect they don't have mulch blades on the mower so I'll be picking those up next week as well.

I got the bagger too but I think I'll only be using that when I let the grass get too tall, which happens a few times a year.

I use a grinding wheel and have never really been satisfied with the results. I'm gonna try the belt sander makes sense and I'm sure the results will be better. Thanks for the tip OS!!

The first time I used my mower, I went out and started her right up. When I was ready to move on, I could not figure out how to get it into gear

After about 10 minutes sitting there in idle, I finally went inside to get the manual to find out WTF. :mj07:

Well, turns out it's automatic and the guys that delivered it did not put that pin back into place after they manually moved it off the truck into my driveway.

At first I didn't think I would like automatic on a mower but it's pretty cool afterall :00hour
