I know

I am not mechanical at all. I hate to have any trouble with shit not starting.

I could easily sit on a auto new lawn mower trying to get it going for a long time. I would have probably trashed the manual.

I use a grinding wheel and have never really been satisfied with the results. I'm gonna try the belt sander makes sense and I'm sure the results will be better. Thanks for the tip OS!!

Morris that little sander is the word..

The man{Doug at Courthouse Sharpening} who has sharpened my blades[w/commerical belt sanders] for the last 10 years gave me the idea last year..

He then taught me how to sharpen w/that little sander and the 50 grit ..

the key with the belt sander is to surf the blade at the crest of the belt wheel up top..

then a light flat sanding on both sides in the conventional way w/horizontal blade againt vertical belt..

Will try to get my neighbor to film a demo if needed.

Little tricky at first but actually a very small learning curve.

I have such great friends..:00hour

great guys who are willing to teach me just about every damn trick of every damn trade there is.

you can even sharpen axes or exes..:142smilie

ps..my grinding wheel has been sitting behind my work bench since the day I brought the belt sander home..

I keep it in case one of the neighbors makes a mess of something and the only savior is the monster wheel.

to fine a grit..

50 grit in the lighest you can go to get that real sharp edge w/at least 6 sharpening from each belt..

Truth be known local shops use 40 grit for lawnmower blades.

I couldn't find 40 grit anywhere locally so settled for 50 grit from Lowes..Which they gladly ordered 10 boxes for me..

A single box will last you all season long and more.

Lighter grit will sharpen that new blade on the rider for ya...just be sure to get the 50 or 40 grit when you can...

Rainout for me today..any questions just fire away or call me at the house..

Thanks, OS. Heading over to Lowes today anyway :)

Will see if they will order for me too. Everybody online wants 10 bucks for shipping, that's more than the product

Have a great day off!
