Name me the quality non-conference games won by SEC schools this season. Kinda tough, huh?

Not too tough at all. Off the top of my head, so some may have been left out:

SEC OOC Wins:

Vols over Cal
UGA over GT
UGA over Colorado
Aub over Wazzou (or maybe Wash)
LSU over zona
SC over Clemson
Bama over Hawaii

SEC OOC Losses:

Vandy @ Mich
Arky vs USC
Ole Miss vs WF

I'll help you 'tards out...

Out of the 48 non-conference games played by SEC teams, the ENTIRE CONFERENCE managed three wins vs. bowl teams from BCS conferences. As expected, the conference had a below .500 record in games against bowl teams from other BCS conferences.

LSU deserves special recognition for playing 4 non-conference games against teams that all finished .500 of below on their season. Three of those four teams were from the Sun Belt, Conference USA and WAC, so getting to .500 is not exactly a glorious accomplishment in those conferences.

I guess the SEC shouldn't feel too terribly bad. Out of 44 non-conference games, the Big Ten had only 2 wins against bowl teams from BCS conferences (and Notre Dame).

p.s. Even though I am trying to keep the discussion focused on the SEC, I do want to give a Pac-10 comparison just to be fair. Out of 34 total non-conference games, the Pac-10 have 5 wins against bowl teams from BCS conferences (and Notre Dame).

Well done. You nailed all 3 games that were won by SEC teams against bowl-bound teams from BCS conferences.

Oh and no other team in the history of college football has played 4 road games against 4 top ten teams!!

HOW ABOUT THAT!! HMMMMMMMMM

Wow. You deserve a front row seat on the short bus.

If my whole argument is that the conference is overrated, then you're only reenforcing my argument by pointing out that LSU played 4 SEC teams that were overrated to such a severe degree that they were actually in the top 10 at the time LSU played them. How about coming up with something that shows how well the SEC fared against quality teams from other quality conferences during the season? That might prove that the SEC really is great and, therefore, that beating two good SEC teams on the road is impressive.

Of course, that whole strategy falls apart when you start looking at facts and stop listening to Verne Lundquist talk about how great the SEC is every week. But I digress...

PAC10 OOC record vs. BCS teams: 7-6

PAC10 OOC Wins:

Zona over BYU
USC @ Arky
USC vs Nebraska
USC over ND
Cal over Minny
oreg over Okie (questionable win)
Zona St @ Col

PAC10 OOC losses:

Zona @ LSU
Wazzou @ Auburn
Stan @ ND
Cal @ Tenn
UCLA @ ND
Wash @ Okie

There is a possibility of ommisions since I ran through this rather quickly.

I remember that Baylor lost vs a PAC10 team, but I was unable to locate that game during my scan of team schedules.

the SEC was down this year - for sure. a usc backer has no room for contempt. you lost to ucla - the sec's equivalent to kentucky......

if lsu had a qb - they would be the best team in the sec.

they may stomp ND - the irish are really lacking studs at several positions.

brady quinn is a great player, but he is going to be better in the pros than in college, due to talent.

I will be shocked if this game is close. Even Wes Miles can't screw this up. Too much speed on D for LSU. If there's one thing that we've seen in the past year and 1 game is that the speed on D kills them. I'm going to wait to see what the line does in hopes that all of the ND backers come in and move it a little but no matter what I'll be playing the Tigers heavy.

Guys we're getting a bit off topic here. We want to discuss game matchups, trends, motivations, etc. etc. so that we can decide on a side and/or total to take. Discussions of which conference is better should be reserved for another thread....

p.s. my ratings # has LSU by 15 on a "neutral" field, however, I have already seen the line drop to 8.5 at some books.....

Ronnie reminds me of the old saying, "If you can't beat 'em, change the subject."

Let's keep things on point here. The SEC was overrated this year. You can find exceptions to every rule (i.e., Tennessee's win over California), but if you take an objective look at that conference, you cannot reasonably come to any other conclusion.

sec is strong because they have depth of quality teams.the fact that they play one another makes it a tough schedule, imo.

Let's see. Michigan and USC both kicked the crap out of ND. What shows ND is good enough to stay with LSU? The way they beat Mich ST? How they handled all the armed forces teams? How North Carolina took them to the 4th Q? The only impressive win was vs. Penn st the 2nd game of the year. I will be all over LSU to give these pretenders another whipping in LSU's backyard.

N. Carolina took ND to the 4th quarter  I guess that's why they took B. Quinn out with 10 minutes to go.

I'm glad we're playing LSU... When ND takes them to the woodshed like Tenn. last year I'll come back and repeat the SEC is OVERRATED. Then two years ago ND traveled down to the "hostile" SEC country and handled the Vols again...:mj07:

SEC Bowl record last year 3-3...

Les Miles has turret's syndrome...

J. Russell has a fat head...

J. Vincent is forty years old...

LSU fans are retarded...

Something to consider for those capping the game....

ND has 17 senior starters playing their last game in an ND uniform.

Love LSU on paper but.............

Diapers, are you 10 years old??? If not, then start acting like a man.

This $hit is lame. The site has gone to $hit with all of this childish BS. I can't believe the number of posters who are going to joining scott4usc, ryanMcwire, GJN, etc. on my ignore list. How about we get our heads ourt of our a$$es and try to provide info which may lead to making some more $$$. Geez.

I can easily see how most would agree LSU is the more athletically gifted team, with far more depth at skill positions, including QB, and far more speed on defense. LSU OL is playing well of late, but this is not a great OL or LSU would have been able to handle AUB and Fla early this season.

That being said, ND may be a solid play here since LSU was really geared up to play Mich in the rose Bowl. This LSU team has little interest in playing the Irish because they have nothing to gain. If LSU wins going away, then they are beating an inferior team. In the mind of the players, if LSU loses to ND, their season is a failure.

I like Pelini to have his D ready (and healthy)after a month off, and I like that ND defense is soft, but Les Miles is still the HC at LSU meaning ND has a good chance to cover, and a decent chance to win.

I agree Cie that ND might be a play here, but I'm not sure I can pull the trigger with the athletic discrepancies between these two teams.
