You will have no problem, just be aware of the deposit. The badges are my dads which he got when they opened the lottery in 2000.

Jack,

If your thinking of going I would book your room now. You can alway cancel if you decide not to go.The hotels are starting to fill up in Columbia. Do not stay in Augusta unless you want to spend a fortune on a dumpy room.

Thanks, I hear ya. I'll be looking from the north since that's where I'll be coming from.

I already checked out Greenville, SC but that's 2 hours so not good. Can get the Hyaat there for $110 a night though :0074

Jack,

Best accomodations are in Atlanta GA at Chuck and Ang's house and drive over to Augusta that morning. Hell, you are up at 5 usually, leave by 5:30, and from our house on East side of town there in an hour and 20 minutes. And, my hotel provides free steak dinner. :0008

They sell lots of badges on Washington Ave, but you will have to leave a deposit of around 3,000.00 which you get back when you turn them in. Day badges will run you between 500.00 to 700.00 per day. .
.............................................................

just curious

who do you leave the 3 grand with ?

why are they so strict with the badges ?

Are the same badges used over and over ?

Never even dawned on me but my brother lives in Lawrenceville which is prob near you?

US Open tix for the whole 4 days is $400 and The Masters is $700 each day. Both places are about a 10 hour drive for me.

Will see what my bucket list buddy thinks. He'll prob think doing both because he only lives about 30 minutes from where the US Open plays this year.

thanks guys :0008

Yep, we are in Smoke Rise/Stone Mountain just south of Lawrenceville. Seriously, the Masters IS a bucket list unto itself. Get your butt down here. Azaleas and dogwoods in full bloom in the ATL. Absolutely gorgeous. Bring your clubs too, we will play golf at the club. Plus, you will get to see Woodson. :SIB

The person you buy the badges from

why are they so strict with the badges ?

Because if you act up in any form they will take your badges and there gone for life.

Are the same badges used over and over ?

New badges are sent to you in the mail each year. The badges are good from Thursday to Sunday.

On the course!
I know a couple of people who have been.

They both said the same thing: Don't go.

The perception you get of the place from television is of such a pristine palace.....and you really get a slap in the face.

This gem of golf is apparently in a toilet of a community. I guess you feel like you need a shower just driving through the place.

Take it from someone who's been there.

Television does not do it justice.

I'm talking about the course, not the town

Washington Avenue is pretty much anywhere, USA, and tall bushes and fences surround the course on all sides so there is no viewing it. One driveway off Washington is so obscure you pass it without notice. That is Magnolia Lane. Inside it is pristine, yyz, and there is no slap of the face. Sometimes you just need to keep your comments to yourself.

Went once -Thur& Friday

Stayed bout an hour from course but can't remember where--some little town.

I was totally in awe of the place--as I walked on course I had one fired up--and field dressed it when finished and put butt in pocket. Ground was so pristine made me feel like I'd would be throwing it on someones carpet.

Have talked to many that went and if I went again beieve I would opt for practice rd. Can take camera/pics and very laid back atmosphere.(no crowds running from hole to hole)

TV does not remotely do this course justice. You would not believe actual slope in greens unless you see it. You have to go one time!

No cameras during the competition?
