My son was asking me about this online bidding site, and I confessed I knew nothing about it. I'm concerned as he has been working some and has some money from his birthday, and is chomping on the bit to spend it. I don't want him to get taken on something, but the site seems pretty popular. It's a great concept, charge people for making a bid, and charge people to offer things. Wish I'd thought of it.

Anyone used this site successfully or unsuccessfully? I just want to tell him something.

Thanks, Jack. That one link pretty much says what I had quickly thought of when he explained it to me. Those people are geniuses... I suppose it's legal - but I'm going to counsel him against it for sure. Anyone else chime in if you know of anything.

I would tell him to stay away, here is one of the reviews

I really feel Beezid is a very bad business model. You buy bids, (.70-1.00 each) spend them at a furious pace as many others do, in hopes of being the last one to bid. Each bid, adds another 20-30 bid allowances. The increase is .01 at a time, giving the appearance that you are buying the item real cheap.

We've all accepted that business needs its profits. But check this out:

A 900.00 laptop was bid up to 55.00. OK so at .70 a bid, increasing the total up .01, that makes for a minimum of 5500 bids....at .70 a bid we are talking a Beezid take of $3850.00!!!!! thats right, By the way...this item was still in play, it was at 55.00 at 8pm on Sunday.

Bad bad bad business model....excellent for gambling addicts.
