I'm not doing Rosetta Stone.

Need something online or a library program.

I think dunc had a program but I forgot the name.

Going to do a little traveling this winter and I would like to better understand the language.

Thanks!!

I've heard a lot of good things about Duolingo.com

It's free. And they claim you learn at a faster rate than via programs like Rosetta Stone.

I second Duolingo. You can also find some teachers in your local area. I found a local girl and got a great deal for private lessons 2 hours a week. Speaking is the easy part, you also need to learn to read and write. Once you get a good grasp of a Latin based language learning others is much easier. I started with Spanish and added Portuguese and Italian which are coming pretty easy. I have found I learn much easier if the the teacher that is a female.

I am such the opposite. Not about that,
but I find reading and writing relatively easy, and speaking intimidating and difficult.
At least back when I learned Spanish in school.
