It's a cost thing. PCs and Macs both have a shelf life.

I have a 13" MacBook Air. Air is the only Mac I would buy. I think the other products are not worth the money.

I went with the Air when I was looking to get a laptop with a solid state drive. Airs were actually the most cost effective way to go with this type of drive.

The retina display is simply not worth that much additional money. No way! No how!

Most all of our new employees get a MacBook Air. One of the main reasons is that employees see it as a perk. We still have a mixed environment between Macs & PCs. Both have good options.

Apple products are awesome. They are so much more technologically advanced than PC's it just isn't fair. My back had been bothering me for a bit the past few weeks so I bought a groupon for a massage down the street from a chiropractor place.

They took pictures of me with a ipad and they had an app - I had no idea which app but they had it paired with a macpro and it analyzed my posture with all kinds of graphs and measurements. It was so cool, I had no idea they could do that. I have heard about them being able to do similar things with other apps and such but to see it in action it was pretty damn cool. Apple has the most apps of any company and I'm sure their devices are used in almost all fields. I just bought a macbook pro, brand new but I couldn't bring myself to getting the retina display so expensive. Got the top of the line macbook pro though and it's awesome. My wife just went to a ipad workshop with her real estate company she works for and they have an app where you take a picture of the house - from the outside and it shows you the floorplan. How cool is that? Anyway, I would never even think of going back to a PC. I use one at work and they're so limited. I have my old macbook pro at work now just so I can do some fancy things with graphics and such. It's a no brainer. Mac's rule.

Hang on there Tiger. The shelf life of an average PC is 4 to 7 years. Average.

Mac has 7 to 10 easy. Same cost IMO.

"average" and "easy"?

So Macs are guaranteed to last 7 years? That's just incorrect.

Any computer is virtually irrelevant at 7 years unless you continue to pump money into upgrades. Good luck with that on any Apple product.

This is no simple cost equation.

Many people are convinced that they HAVE to have a Mac to be happy. It's an easy decision when this is the case. Buy the Mac.
