Is anyone in here a Uber driver? Heard a guy next to me yesterday mention he was a Uber driver. He said he was making pretty good money after the bars closed.

I've never used Uber myself, have you? How did it work for you?

I have a buddy that said he was going to do it. One to make some money but two, he thought he might stand a good chance of getting laid by drunk women who use it leaving the bars. LOL, the kid is always working the getting laid angle.

anyone that has UBER in their area and not using it is crazy

1/3 the cost of cabs
pick up at front door and dropped off at front door
no parking costs
have that extra drink(S) that you shouldnt before diving home and get someone to drive you
cashless as its attached to debit/credit card
ride in nicer cars with people that can communicate
safety features built in where cabs you mostly just jump in not knowing who they are
oh yea ... 1/3 the cost of a cab

download the app and use this code for free $20 off 1st ride ... 2qc6t

ask any questions not covered

The best public transportation system by far in Los Angeles...

I even call Uber drivers to deliver packages for me...

He's right, UBER is an excellent service. I usually use UberX which is the cheapest and I've talked to the drivers about how it works. It works out well and is a great idea. You can even track rides. I have used the regular UBER too and got a decked out Lincoln Navigator on my way back from the airport coming home from Punta Cana. Did it because I was tired and so was my wife, not too much more $$ and a comfortable ride home. It's a fantastic service and I can see why they are already getting competitors like Sidecar and Lyft.

Sidecar started it all however their advertising sucked... so lyft came along with the mustache... assuming people would Google "cars with pink mustaches " which they did. and then Uber came along and perfected the service with categories and turning lyfts idea into a more "business like approach."

I'm not familiar with any of these companies or the controversies surrounding them.
Can someone bring me up to speed? :SIB

I was kidding of course. Sidecare/Lyft/Uber are all headquartered in my town and about 50% of all local news stories not about the insane cost of housing, are about one of these transit companies. They now employ over 25,000 people in the Bay Area.
It's crazy.

Are all fares flat rate ? If so, what happens if there is an unforeseen traffic jam? Is the driver stuck ?

It is when I use them in New York City. They are usually picking you up withing 3-5 minutes of when you hail them. Great service and less expensive. New York usually has Town cars or Suburban's. As you may know NYC is unpredictable.

they'll be around until legislation is drafted to run them out of any town they haven't yet been run out of.

for starters, the driver doesn't tell their insurance company they're doing drive for hire or their rates will skyrocket. uber lies and says they will cover any shortfall, but the minute they're approached it'e ''adios, sorry you're on your own.''

do a search on youtube for the lowdown.

I take it your a pissed off taxi driver? If I were you I would trade in your mustard stain for a prius... ubers not going anywhere

I would comment on the insurance however your ignorance is a bit high to even discuss it...
