Navy -10 over Army ******
When this line came out on Monday I jumped on it...its now -12 or -13 but really don't think it matters...Army is bad...lets start with there defense 1st...they can't stop anybody...they have 3 wins and one of those was vs Morgan St and in the 2nd half Morgan moved the ball at will..Army was lucky that Morgan had 20 penalties.Their biggest problem is they have no option qb...Santiago cannot pass so throw that option out..he cannot run with the ball so he is no threat esp on the pitch..he is so limited and he has been benched for AJ and the frosh but they are worse...Army backs Bagget,Dixon and co are good but teams are putting 8 or 9 guys in the box reading the options...but Armys defense is worse then the offense if thats possible...their secondary gets beat all the time...don't have the athletes to stay with anyone...everyone gets seperation from the cb's and the safeties are former liner backers...slow...think their last in the nation in pass defense or close..they have decent linebackers but DL has had big time problems..no pass rush at all even though vs Navy you don't need one..special teams..the worst in the country..punts and kick offs none existent...
Navy is led by their qb Reynolds who is unreal...after watching him pick apart the Notre Dame defense a month ago he will have a field day vs the Cadet defense...he can run the option like a clinic...he reads the defense and changes his play...then he will attack with his pass because he has an accurate arm{ 55%}...he has thrown for over 1,000 yds and 8 td's...but his legs have given him 1,200 yds and an amazing 26 td's....ND threw the book at Reynolds blitzing, dropping back, etc and he was "poetry in motion"....Navy also has about 7 or 8 guys that have rushed for over 200yds...thats some depth...there wr and TE are so open after defenses move up to stop the run...
Navy should win this by 3 td's...weather could be a factor somewhat but even in bad weather Armys special teams are such a disaster that could cost them.....the only other factor could be the exam schedule...this game was pushed back a week which runs into finals week at Navy..so Navy players have had to concentrate on the books... Army finals are the week after the game.....but I don't think Navy will have a problem with that..getting up for this game should not be effected by exams....
Navy has dominated this game....and they will continue to do it on Saturday.....44-17...

Philly weather...they expect 2-4 inches in Philly tomr....think the snow is more of an advantage for Navy..since Army can't throw the ball and Navy can, the wr always has an advantage in the snow...he knows where he is going and so does the QB...the CB or safety have no idea and have to react..but Army might get a few cheap td's on runs etc...
My daughter and son-in -law are attending the Navy Ball tonite in Philly..He is an ex-Navy officer...and still works for the Navy...tomr will get a beter update on the weather...one of my buddies in NY sent me a video of last nites Armys pep rally and bon fire on campus...After watching Armys coach Ellison give his speech I could see why they are 3-8...

It was a Navy Gala not a Navy Ball..my daughter corrected me this morning..it was at the Philly Convention Center... she said an Army general got up and gave top 10 reasons why army wins tomorrow...had everyone laughing...also she said there were two former Heisman winners there...I asked who? She said some guy named Roger..lol..it was Roger Staubach ....

2-4 inches expected...same field the eagles played on last sunday...Army might start Shurr over Santiago because he can pass better...both are bad so to me it doesn't make a difference..would like Santiago because he doesn't pitch the ball enough and plays conservative..but in snow Baggett could break some big runs..that what scares me now with bad field conditions..Baggett is the 2nd best person on the field today..but Armys special teams are a disaster...they will give up a td some time some place..punting,kick off return,etc...and Reynolds could have a field day in the snow..on qb keeps he could break a few long runs....
also played a prop bet this morning
Reynolds over 227 yds passing and rushing...that could be in the mud, snow, ice or paddling in water...I have 2 kids from my HS in the stands today...one is senior and on the wrestling team at the Point and one is a soph at Navy...great kids and both parents work at my school....

Great game for me to watch but a little scary at times...the field conditions helped Army more then Navy..Reynolds couldn't pass and couldn't cut on his runs...Shurr started and was benched right after he fumbled...Army's problem last yr were fumbles..they lost 29..this year only 20...but Santiago doesn't pitch the ball therefore they lose a lot of big gains..Yest. the announcers were saying " he's got to pitch that ball". But we have seen that all year..so many times Baggett is wide open on the pitch and Santiago keeps it...its the reason why he was benched in the Hawaii game...I have said this all year here when talking about the Army's qb..you have to be an option qb to run it..Steelman ran it for 4 years and just yesterday I heard for the 1st time " Dixon took the blame in last yrs fumble on the Navy 10...he pulled away as Steelman was handing it off....anyway no matter what the field conditions were usually the better team comes out ahead...Army D played pretty well esp the corners....but would have had a problem on a nice field...lost my prop bet but that was ok...the under was a good play..congrats to all you that got that..thanks for the nice comments and all those that had Navy...
