Kosar, sorry it got busy around here.

More information is needed to diagnose what is going on in your box.

1. What is the Operating system in your machine? Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, or XP (home or Professional?)

2. Kernel32.dll is a dynamic link library which is vital and essential for your system to be able to run all the processes in your system. Among those is included your GUI engine. GUI is the [G]raphical ser nterface which makes it possible for to use all the fancy graphics (icons, mouse pointers, etc).

3. It is possible that your system is running out of resources when loading up that many processes (you mention 15 browsers ... that can bring down to its knees even a system which is equipped with ½ a GigaByte of RAM if your hard disk has gotten too fragmented)

4. Apparently, you have installed a version of Office, could be 2000 could be XP, or even the older 97 version. If you have Office 2000 on your system, or even XP, then there is a feature in there called TuneUp which may have hosed your system, especally if your disk is fragmented. The only solution provided by Micro$oft is a registry hack, if you need it, I will be happy to provide you the link. *S*

Dogface, sorry bro. After reading all that info that IE posted I was seeing double. Your bid of $750 isn't bad. Yo, if KMA doesn't solve it (check out the hook while the DJ revolves it), i'll get wit cha.

Cryboy,

My tender, soulful poems are not for public consumption. Well, I would send a few to Blitz if he asked nicely.

IE,

Sorry for exposing you for not paying for Worm's inside info, but jeez. That shiat is golden. Just like the time, through the underground, I got rock solid info from Scott4USC on how USC was gonna destroy Cal this past year and it was the lock of the year....oh, ummm, sorry.....nevermind.

KMA,

Thanks again. I mentioned before that I have windows '98, but I have no idea what 'office' version I have. Now that you mention it, 'word' and 'excel' can be quirky also. Like at the top of the screen where it has all of those icons, they are all scrambled. It doesn't really affect day to day operations, but sumptin' ain't right.

I hope my disk isn't fragmented. That doesn't sound pleasant. If you think an MSN 'registry hack' is the answer, then i'm game. Thank you.

Kosar here yah go!!!

1- Restart your computer, press and hold down the CTRL key while your computer restarts until you see the Windows 98 Startup menu, and then choose Command Prompt Only.

2- Type the following commands, pressing ENTER after each line:

cd\windows\system
ren kernel32.dll kernel32.xxx

3- Extract a new copy of the Kernel32.dll file from your original Windows disks or CD-ROM to the Windows\System folder. For information about using the Extract tool, type extract at the command prompt.

4- Restart you computer.

Thanks KMA. Appreciate it!

My problem with that plan might be that I don't have my original (or any) Windows disk or CD. Is that a dealbreaker?

be honest, kosar. even if you had the cd, the *real* dealbreaker, for you, is following that plan without screwing things up even worse :D

Well, i'd be lying if I said i'm not a little intimidated by step 3 of that plan. Now please leave me alone. I'm working on a computer glitch here.

Once I read what KMA told you to do I somehow knew you
would be puzzled. Anytime you go into that programming mode
bad things can happen. And I admit I could not do it either.

Best investment you will ever make is to hire a computer consultant. There is a ton of them in the phone book. They charge 75 bucks a hour but can fix just about anything in 2 hours.

The last time I had him out here my computer was freezing up and I was having to restart it all the time. He came in and found out my mouse was bad, charged me 75 bucks and left.

WRONG! :nooo:

I did not even bet that game. Here are some things I said about that game in the thread. NO WAY DID I SAY USC WAS GOING TO DESTROY CAL!!! :nono: I think you have me mistaken for WORM.

I like it too for few reasons but i actually may not bet it.

CAL SCARES ME. Not talent wise, not even coaching wise (i think USC has best coaching staff in nation) but CAL just seems to play USC tough. Tedford is a great coach, and he def. will have his team ready to play. CAL has this game circled, and its there biggest game of the year next to Stanford of course. Last year CAL jumped on USC @USC 21-0 before USC made strong comeback and won. This is still young USC team, who we still are not quite sure on how good they are.

USC will beat CAL 41-10 if Lienart is on his game uses the "many" "many" weapons around him. But remember, its only Lienarts 4 game in his career and on road. Lastly, Pete will play reserves and even the backups, so if USC has 20pt lead, watch out for meaningless CAL TD and USC will just run ball to eat clock. Pete is class act coach.

Scotty Atlanta,

Very true. If they could have beaten Cal, they would have won the National Championship for sure.

ScottUSC,

It looks to me like you mentioned that USC would win 41-10 if Lienart was on and uses his 'many, many' weapons, but you were concerned about a backdoor cover and that Cal plays USC tough. Looks like you had everything covered no matter what happened. Dork.
