I've seen about 3 or 4 threads about borrowing money from other peeps on this board, or posts from peeps asking if anybody would front money to cover bets. Do people really fall for that scam??? The WWW is flooded with peeps trying to scam money in one way or another, there are people that dedicate an entire homepage to the art of collecting money on-line. I can't believe people even ask.

I fell for it twice, KMA. Once with Nolan Dalla and once with this Michigan fan JSmooth. 500 a pop. At least it wasn't money out of pocket, just stiffed on bets.

Anyways, the main reason I posted here is to bore you with yet another computer question.

Once a week, (and only once a week) like clockwork I get a big message on my screen that says 'Kernel 32', and you have the option of 'close' or 'ignore'. Doesn't matter which one you pick, you only have about 5 minutes before it freezes altogether.

Sometimes the computer slows down a little and I can feel a Kernel coming on. If i'm in the middle of writing a long piece of poetry or something and it starts to slow down, I always save it so the kernel doesn't get me. The slow down doesn't *always* indicate a Kernel, but about half the time. WTF is a Kernel 32 and how can I stop getting Kerneled? It's a big pain reopening 15 browsers every time it locks up. Thank you!

Never heard this one either SixFive.

Maybe Nolan will chime in and give his side of the story.

What is Kernel32.dll?

Kernel32.dll is the 32-bit dynamic link library of the operating system kernel. Kernel32.dll handles memory management, input/output operations, and interrupts. When Windows boots up, Kernel32.dll is loaded into a protected memory space.

What are the "Invalid Page Fault" Errors?

An IPF can occur when an unexpected event has occurred in Windows, for example a program improperly attempted to use random access memory (RAM) or the virtual memory area is corrupted by a program, or a program is attempting to access data that is being modified by another program that is running. More information in: Q286180: Invalid Page Fault Errors Occur in Windows

What to do if you have Kernel32.dll IPF ("Invalid Page Fault") error?

This error occurs when an application tries to access kernel32.dll's protected memory space. It may be one particular program or application, or multiple files and applications.

Also, this error may be caused by faulty hardware (bad memory modules, device drivers, etc.)

Norton Speed Disk for Windows 95 corrupts encrypted files
A few users have reported problems on Windows 95 where they would get random lockups and crashes after installing Cryptext (eg. right-clicking on the Recycle Bin causes a crash in Explorer). This problem seems to be a problem in Windows itself (in the retail version of kernel32.dll, as it never happens with the debug version of the kernel), and is also related to having multiple shell extensions installed, as the problem sometimes disappears when the number of shell extensions is reduced. The only suggestion I have is to uninstall either Cryptext or one or more of the other shell extensions which you may have installed (eg MS Plus, McAfee Viruscan 95, WinZip, InocuLAN, etc).

I'll pay your ransom after you finally pay me for passing along that inside info that I got from Worm44 last year.

As for the rest of that Kernel 32 info, thanks, but I have no idea what any of it means.

SixFive and Scotty Atlanta,

That was a nasty sort of business with Nolan that happened about 3 or 4 years ago. To his credit, he *did* say way back then that he would pay up as soon as he got out of his hole and/or had a winning week. Unfortunately, neither has happened yet.
