If there is a thread about this somewhere, please post it here and I won't waste anyone's time. Just wondering what casinos are like, atmosphere, any really nice restaurants, etc. Thanks.

lived 10 mins away my entire life.
you dont really want to be wandering around very far off the boardwalk or away from the casinos.
casinos are nice, lots of restaurants to choose from around.
borgata probably nicest casino but would opt for somewhere on the boardwalk as the borgata is across town on the bay side and you dont want to be walking across town.
ceasars would be the ideal place to stay....in the middle pretty much and has the pier there with some restaurants and shops.
lots out outlet shops nearby too and only a short walk and worth checking out during the day if it isnt boiling.
beach is right outside off the boardwalk which is a huge plus if youre staying at a casino on the boardwalk.
the revel just opened up and is supposed to be immaculate. farther down towards the bad area than most the other casinos but you can walk along the boardwalk up to where the others are.
would suggest ceasars and just walk down/up the boardwalk to any other casinos youd like to go.
but any of the ones right on the boardwalk wouldnt be too bad.
just do not wander the streets too far away from the casinos at night. :nono:

NOT safe after dark, pawn shop after pawn shop. My good friend Matt was a rare watch dealer; he wanted to do some local business.
Went to a pawn late one evening, we were buzzed in a locked in bullet proof glassed anteroom by a Russian in underwear scratching his nutsack while holding a 38..
Found out later Russian Mob launders drug and prosty money thru the pawns.
Prostitutes and Druggies call this wonderful slice of N.J. "home." Walk the streets at nite and be hassled.
Borgata was the exception, it was farther away from the rest of the feces called Atlantic City
Save your money for Connecticut or Vegas.:0074

Been there about a half a dozen times. Airportis nailed it. I also enjoy the beach bars during the Summer time, great place to drink a few and look at the Ocean.

We like it. Like they say it does not feel safe, even on The Boardwalk after dark. Seems like a ghost town sometimes. If you go eat at least once at Bills on The Boardwalk. Not a fancy place. I guess you would call it a dive. But great food.

We did a 3 day 2 night trip a couple years back and enjoyed........As everyone said, after dark is a different world...........

ocean city is a family resort. everytime you want to go to the casino you have to drive 10 minutes or so through loads and loads and loads of traffic lights all the way down to AC.
Thank you gentlemen. That settles that. Just have always heard but never been. Appreciate the honest candor.

AC is a good 2 night stop...wouldnt stay any longer than that.....ive been there maybe 15-20 times
Hit the beach for 2 days, do a little shopping...hit the casino and dinner at night
Caesars is smack in the middle of the boardwalk, connects to ballys on one side and trump on the other...it also has a walk out pier that you can eat on or shop at.....probably has the best rooms as well
a couple of beach bars (nothing to write home about) but usually have some live music....
Tropicana is at the south end....younger crowd down there....has a few more restaurants and bars/clubs in it
Borgata is the nicest one....off boardwalk but 5 min taxi ride would get you there...harrahs is also close by, if you wanted to party at night at their Pool party Bar/Club......
its ghetto 2 and 3 blocks from the boardwalk, but you shouldn't and wouldnt have any reason to be out there......and dont get it confused with vegas, bc vegas its not......
its cheap fun, check on what concerts or shows are going to be there and hit one up at borgata or showboat

Just got back yesterday afternoon from AC...spent 2 nites at the Tropicana...hotel was nice...easy to get on a table...Carmines is a great Italian place to eat..in the hotel..comps are good...beach is right there...had my grand daughter so went to Ocean City,NJ for a night on the boardwalk with rides,etc,,spent most summers for a week in OC..great for your family...AC is good for a few nights...the boardwalk is fine at night...we walked from the Showboat all the way to the Trop and never saw anything bad...The Hilton closed down and Atlantic took over..the other night got addicted to 3-card poker...always play blackjack...my kids got me into this game...won big both nights...then yesterday morning at the Trop while everyone was still sleeping...played it at the Trop....gave half of what I won back in 25 minutes...its like someone here said..it depends on what your looking for...if you have kids stay in OC....and hit AC at night..as long as you have a baby sitter..
