Had a neck surgery 2 weeks ago. I was in the hospital exactly 5 hours and went home. Was doing terrific until a week after the surgery when I woke up to excruciating pain in my neck. I was also almost totally immobile. Went to the ER, and they kept me. Turns out I had a huge infection in my neck/shoulders around where I had the surgery! Hospital aquired I'm quite sure, and the bug is MRSA which is bad news! My neck swelled up until I looked like Barry Bonds/Bo Jackson!! Excruciating pain and horrible muscle spasms. The pain and swelling are both improved, but this whole deal really sucks bad. Thanks for all the well wishes, and I hope I can make it through this boredom! 2 IVs a day, and each takes 3 hours!!! THAT SUCKS!!!!

Dude, I couldn't agree more!! I sent my meals back 6 straight times at one point because they didn't send what I ordered!! I had a few good nurses, but you only seem to remember the poor ones. After I was transferred from Bowling Green to Nashville by Ambulance (with no premedication from my chit nurse), I layed in a room from 1500-1900 with absolutely NO PAIN MEDICINE!!! My dumbass nurse kept saying, "I don't have any orders", or, "The doctor's making rounds and should be here anytime". That was such BS!! I have never let a patient lay in pain EVER. If they hurt, you call the doctor and get them something ordered whether they are coming or not.
WARNING:: If you're ever in a hospital, you'd better have somebody there staying with you to help take care of you. This is coming from a nurse and from first hand experience. Hospital care BLOWS!!! I'm good and I provide excellent care and I am an excellent patient advocate. So are about 1/3 of the nurses out there. The rest aren't, so watch out!!!
I had an overnight stay about 6 months back and it was my first time in a hospital through the night. I was apalled by the apathetic, lack of care I received from my nurses. That was, if I ever saw them. I know with a possible appendicitis I'm a small fish in there but they could have at least come by more frequently then every 6-8 hrs or whatever it was.

glad you are somewhat better 6/5, resistant staph is no joke, it almost killed me last year. Your lucky you didn't get septic, I was in the hospital last year from Thanksgiving till St. Patrick s day. Then you get c diff, from the antibiotics. It really sucks, I hope things are turning the corner for you.
glad your ok. couldnt imagine staying in a hospital that long. a buddy of mine sells orthopedic implants for trauma victims, the stories i hear are freakin scary. he keeps telling me if i get jacked up to call him on way to hospital.
