Blah, blah, blah Dept.
Despite having a problem with my puter, I did manage to play a little Saratoga action the past few days. Only writing this cause I wanted to mention that I'm finding the Spa easier to handicap (not necessarily to WIN but to HANDICAP) than Philly. Philly has more "look alikes" in their fields, almost like they purposely put together entries for a race with horses that have the same things going for or against them. Like - almost all put in a great race in their last start and finsished ITM, or almost all were beaten favorites recently, or almost all had trouble in their last start, Not so with Saratoga though. Still, for me, the best thing you can have going for ya is to get the "feel" of a certain track and I think I got that for Philly.
Sorry, but I gotta mention this - think it was Sunday that I had to rush through my cappiing for Sar. and in one of the races I came up with the nos. 5 hoss and the no. 6 hoss. Even liked the no. 5 better and that one was 16-1 (something like that); the no. 6 was 11-1. I tried and tried to find a couple of horses to put with each of these two long shots for an exacta cause I felt that one of them would come in the zacta. Couldn't find any other horse to use with each of them two though. So... I just put 4 (REALLY) stinkin bucks on Win/Place on each ($16 total, and don't ask me how I came up with that kinda bet?) cause I did feel somewhat good of the possibility of one them winning the race. AND.... . .one (the 5) did win :00hour
But, here's the "POO POO happens part" - the freakin no. 6 completed the dang zackta. Yeah, I did collect over a hundred bucks for coming up with them two.. but not the freakin $429 for the exacta. Yeah, it was kinda like one of these --> ;142loser:
Sooo sick of those things happening to me lately.
I'll post two plays here for today...
5th race
This race looks like a bit of a free-for-all and that means PRICE to me. Similar to the situation above, too many of the horses look like clones in this race and trying to make an exacta is a LOT harder than (maybe) finding a horse that looks to be better than all the others (mostly clones). That hoss is no. 4, Bullet Rain. M.L. is 5-1.
Usually the way to go with this track is via an EARLY runner. But, Bullet just out-closes filelds like this one CONSISTANTLY and he's got a the jockey to make it happen. Leaning on using the 2,5,6 and maybe the 9 with him. For sure I'll play the Bullet W/Pl/Show 3x.
7th race
Two hosses for this one - no. 2, Mi Presciosa (10-1 M.L.) and no. 6, Saint Gold (6-1). I've written about Presciosa before in here... this one is STILL looking for her first win in 15 Philly starts.. oh, and so is the trainer/owner ... UGH! This horse was regarded as a lost cause not too long ago.. clearly on her way to the glue factory or a McDonald's butcher/meat grinder. But i've noticed how this one is running the second half of her races, she REALLY picks it up and found a gear lately. She's got a low percentage jockey who happens to be one of my secret weapon's for this track (I LUV the way Edwn rides em.. .best finisher in my book). Inside post, the jockey, and getting closer and closer to pulling one out methinks.
NOW... the horse that I feel even more confident about is the no. 6, Saint Gold. BIG drop in company yet - this one looks to me like most of her losing efforts lately were more than good enough to beat these $7.5k claimers. I'll be hitting this pne pretty heavy Win/Place/Show 3x(at least). Would be VERY heavy if Bracho wasn't on her back. Oh, her M.L. is 6-1 .. that's excellent for this horse in this spot. Nos 2,4, and 9 could light up the board with either of the picks for the exactas. Betta believe I'll be on the magic nos. in this race though.. 2<->6.... Oh, yeeah, I'll be on that combo alright!!
