I called a 12u fall ball baseball game last night that was pretty fun. I was on the bases and one of the local college kids called the plate. He had a Mack Truck strike zone going which helped moved the game along and also kept the game surprisingly close.

We get to the top of the 7th (last inning) with the visitors trailing 3-4. All of a sudden their bats come alive and they put up 5 to take the lead 8-4.

We get to the bottom half of the inning and the home team ends up getting 2 runs and giving up 2 outs. So they're down 6-8 at the top of the lineup. Lead off singles. 2 hole hits a grounder to short, who flips to 2nd, but the runner was going on the pitch and beats it. The 3rd batter steps in, and the kid had gone yard in his last at bat. Walk-off? Nope, Plunk. HBP. That puts the tying run on 2nd and the winning run on 1st. Next batter, Plunk. HBP. 8-7. Everyone moves up, tying run on 3rd, winning run on 2nd.

The visiting squad makes a pitching change. The At-bat is a pretty good one with a couple of laced foul balls, but he ends up working the count full. 3-2, 2 outs. Runners go and the batter hits a shit rocket between short and 3rd, but unfortunately it hit the runner in the foot. Dead ball interference, Ball Game. Luckily no crying afterwards.

For meaningless baseball it was a pretty exciting end and to the best of my recollection the first time I've ever had an interference call end a game.

It's damn near year round here in Texas.

We have fall ball games scheduled through Thanksgiving and a Tournament the 1st weekend in December. The slowest month will be January and then the spring season(s) will start back up in late February.

The middle infielders will appreciate this.

I was calling fall ball at a local Juco last month, in the field, with 2 outs. Runner on 1st takes off, oops pitch-out and he is hosed by a good 4 steps. He slides in outer than shit and then the 2nd baseman and shortstop go modern day Laurel Hardy on his ass.

2nd baseman applies the tag, stands up and says, "Like Dave Chappelle said."

Shortstop running by drops, "Gotcha Bitch"

Poor kid looked like someone stole his ice cream cone.
