Can you name a bill he has sponsored? What has he supported/against? I want to hear why I should vote for him in November. If he is so good there should be tons of responses. Lets go...

This may be our next President and he is not even saluting the flag.

check this out, If he wins we are done as a country.

chad...

good post but wishful thinking.the only way the inner cities will change is if the attitudes of the people living there change toward family structure & education.

Exactly my point - I realize my hope would take decades to come about, but a shining example of success from a black man might be a way to get it started.

I think a lot of people are starting to get tired of hearing the same old thing, that things can't change and this is the way it's always been, etc. Something will come along to take the place of rap iconic behavior, even in those areas, I think. Say Obama and some local leaders working together to establish some programs, etc.

I don't know, I know what you're saying. But it simply would have to start somewhere. And where better than having a great motivational communicator with intelligence speak for you instead of Jesse Jackson or the right reverend Sharpton?

Just because you get a group of average Americans in a room that no nothing about Obama.. Forget that it was staged by Hannity, doesn't mean He has no significant accomplishments. This guy was President of the Harvard Law Review. Prominent Alumni include : Chief Justice John Roberts, Justice Scalia & Ginsburg....(4) Sec of State...Home land Security Sec. Michael Chertoff... Not to mention he was Magna Cum Lauda @ Harvard... I would consider those significant accomplishment, that put Him head & shoulders above most if not all his critics.

Maybe the devil we know is better, but to send the same types to the same place to do the same stuff in the same way and expect some different results is insane. I just don't get the impression that someone who made his political bones on the Souh Side of Chicago is a pussy. He hasn't been around as long, but the only real qualification that matters to me, when you get right down to it, is that he is intelligent. Squawk all you want about his stances...........he is smarter than 98% of the people on this planet, and I'll side with that every time.

Well said.

We once were the leader with all the new ideas. Some how on energy side to many old timers in DC believe oil/oil/oil. We need some of this young smart thinking. It's time to press the issue and get the new jobs that can come from new industry. If oil companies want to join in ok. They oil must see hand writing on the wall. Oil is not forever. We should have our car mfg leading the way with better gas millage. Instead of fighting it all the time. The one that takes lead will get the most business. How the hell can't Ford and G M see this. The Hondas of the world do. So many of are bridges need repair or replacing. Roads in tough shape. It's a fact for every billion spent on bridges and highways. Jobs good paying jobs that pay the taxes we need payed. 10000 Thousand per billion. Sounds like a smarter thing to do then 10 billion a month in Iraq. Witch is more old thinking.

DTB : if you went to Harvard and did what Obama did, it would help qualify you for president..... not only that but you would know something about the 14th amendment..... sec 1401 that states 100% that he is an American Citizen..... not that 1/2 qualifier, low rent, 1/2 backed, anti american, inbred bulshit you were squeealing about.

Is this some idea of a joke, or are you actually serious?
He's quite serious.:mj07:

And John Kerry actually being in the line of fire was nowhere near as hazardous as Dick Cheney's 5 deferment duty.

Holy Shiite. The guy gets a family favor and is allowed into the National Gaurd, goes AWOL, and DTB's spin is "flew jets in service of his country."

"Owned lots of big businesses." :scared

DTB, you ever read anything about his "business career?" I will post just a snippet,

"Like his dad, Junior struck out in Texas and founded an oil company, Arbusto Energy, Inc., with $20,000 of his own money. (Arbusto is the Spanish word for bush.) The company foundered in the early 1980s when oil prices dropped (and his dad was Vice President.)
The 50 investors, who were "mainly friends of my uncle" in Junior's own words, put in $4.7 million and lost most of it. Junior claims that investors "did pretty good," but Bush family friend Russell Reynolds told the Dallas Morning News: "The bottom line was there were problems, and it didn't work out very well. I think we got maybe 20 cents on the dollar."

As Arbusto neared collapse, Spectrum 7 Energy Corporation bought it in September 1984. Despite his poor track record, the owners made Bush, Jr. the president and gave him 13.6% of the parent company's stock.

Spectrum 7 was a small oil firm owned by two staunch Reagan/Bush Sr. supporters -- William DeWitt and Mercer Reynolds. These two were also owners of the Texas Rangers and allowed Bush Jr. to purchase a chunk of the team cheaply; he later sold it for over 24 times what he paid.

Within two years of purchasing Arbusto and making Bush Jr. president, Spectrum 7 was itself in trouble; it lost $400,000 in its last 6 months of operation. That ended in 1986, when Harken Energy Corporation bought Spectrum 7's 180-well operation.

Junior got $227,000 worth of Harken stock, and a lot more. He was named to the board of directors, made $80,000 to $100,000 a year well into the 1990s as a "consultant" to Harken, and was allowed to buy Harken stock at 40% below face value.

He also borrowed $180,375 from Harken at very low rates; the company's 1989 and 1990 SEC filings said it "forgave" $341,000 in loans to unspecified executives.

So what did Junior do for all this money? It's hard to say exactly, but things happened for Harken after Junior came on board:
it got a $25 million stock offering from an unusual bank with CIA ties,
it won a surprise exclusive drilling contract with Bahrain, a small Mideast country, and
an Arab member of its Board of Directors was invited to White House policy meetings with President George Bush and National Security Adviser Brent Scowcroft. "

--and which are you disputing Matt and your little cheer leader Smurph.

GW wasn't business owner--or flew jets
By Dave Moniz and Jim Drinkard, USA TODAY
WASHINGTON ? Officers who flew fighter-jet patrols in the early 1970s with George W. Bush describe him as a gung-ho warrior and a gifted pilot who was popular in his Texas Air National Guard unit.
